I'm sure this is a link that has came up before.
If we sold him without replacing him we'd struggle, struggle quite a lot. We need somebody in the role he plays as sweeper in front of the defense and behind the midfield and he's the only one that does that. He does it very well. However, his passing is awful and he's very nervous when he has the ball at feet under pressure.
If we can get enough money to replace him with somebody better on the ball that can play that role, I'd sell. I don't think it would be the hardest thing to do, but we would absolutely need to replace him.

probably my 3 if I was held at gunpoint and asked to name 3, Borini if asked for 4 - 2 of them arent ours though and I wouldnt exactly lose sleep if the other 2 went for the right money - team will be hugely different start of next season no matter what happens

Realistically he'll know that even if we get through tonight our chances are pretty slim of actually winning the thing. So it will be the prospect of a Wembley final, and little else. Comparing that to a new, probably longer, contract in the Premier League with a club slightly more likely to stay up than we are, and the decision will probably not be that difficult, especially if he gets some kind of bonus.
He'd probably also relish a new start, given his mixed reputation among our fans, and the likelihood that he doesn't really fit the footballing philosophy of our manager.
I think the time is right for him to move on, for all our sakes.
