Carlisle as a place to live?

Never been to the place but have spent plenty of time in the Lakes, Kendal, Penrith etc so already know about those.

Has anyone spent a significant amount of time in Carlisle or the immediate vicinity? How is it as a place to live?

My great grandmother came from Carlisle, Margaret Donowho, and she married my great grandad Jacob Hughes in Penrith ....they later moved to Barnard Castle.

I once went on a session in Workington with some lasses I met on holiday. Drove over had a day our round the lakes and Whitehaven right before that taxi driver shot loads of people

Decent night out tbh

That’s as close as I got to Carlisle. One of my mates knows the navy guy from the advert though with that weird Geordie/Sean Bean accent

Doesn't look bad at all, has retained some of it's old architecture but like most British cities they tend to look a bit samey with all the same chains etc.

Would like to hear from someone who lives there or has lived there.
