Aftermarket springs cost peanuts these days so can go quite quick . If its original that's 8 years . I've never bought one for any of my cars but I've also sold thousands . Maybe the top bearing is gone and the top of the spring been moving as well as compressingThe car is only 8 years old. I have had far older and higher mileage cars with no issues with springs.
A starting point of Oil and filter every 10k or yearly, regards of higher intervals, and other items like pugs, air as and when according to interval.Yamar - need to bug son to keep on top of his motor.
