Can't stop watching Tommy Watson (ROCKETMAN)

I know it was only Saturday but it feels like a dream to me, absolutely amazing day at Wembley and fantastic seats right where Mayenda scored, old guy next to me was crying when we sang I Can’t Help Falling In Love at the end, hugging randomers and enjoying the occasion, best day of my life, still watching the goals at least 5 times a day!

Great post marra
We took kids and grand daughters ( season ticket holders )
Have to hope they realise this isn’t usual !!

Must have watched this one at least 100 times already. When it went in I turned and hugged my son. I wasn't entirely convinced it was in for a split second. I thought it might have hit the side netting via some Escheresque optical illusion. But seeing Tommy whip his shirt off confirmed it. You can just see us in the video as we stop embracing and start jumping about with our arms around each others shoulders going mental.

What a moment! I'll never forget that til the day I die.

Been listening to the full song and I keep welling up.

Can some of the lads involved in knocking up the chants come up with a rocketman chant? Cheers.

I'm amazed every time I see it. Watson is so direct and just strokes the ball ... almost like a golfer with a long put. The keeper had no chance because it was so inch perfect. I wonder if he'll ever score a goal like that again???

He will, IMO, because he practiced it so much beforehand. A key element was waiting for the exact moment when the defender was blocking off the GK's line of sight. That gave Tommy the extra split second to ensure the GK could not reach it in time despite the ball's slow pace. An absolute thing of beauty, prob my fave of them all.

Gabbo going mental
Can we just stick this to the first page forever?Even now the tears of joy are running town my face and im a cynical and miserable old fat twat!Mayenda's goal is sublime but Watsons just bursts your heart with pride!I Ive always preferred playing the game than watching it but that goal is fantastic for the soul!

I'm in tears now reading this thread 😆

I'm off to our lasses near Manchester tomorrow then to Chester for a week, already packed my home and away shirts and training tops, and beer for the train 😆

Any sunderland fans in Chester fancy a few pints 😊 🍻

Watson is wheeling away before it goes in but there’s also one Sunderland fan behind the goal with his arms up and for that split second he’s the only fan who knows we are going up. Second later and mayhem.

I just said this on another thread.

I've watched this clip a hundred times.
I know he scores.

But as he strikes it. I still hold my breath in anticipation. Its just a perfect hit. Its insane that he squeezes it in like that.
