Aye, we were middle tier but in the corner (the opposite post from the one the ball went in next to). Could see the shot but assumed it was either going wide, or was going to be saved. I was pissed so my memory is cloudy, but I think I only really started celebrating when I realised that everyone else was

Guess at the time he had the chance to financially set up his future for the rest of his life. Can’t blame the lad, could have chosen to stay and broke his ankle at Eppleton Colliery a month later and never been heard of again.
None of us knew how it was all going to end up.
