Can we win the Europa League?

Can we get out of League One?... Yes.

Can we beat Cov in a 2 leg play off semi? ...Yes

Can we beat Sheff Utd in a Wembley Final?...Yes

Can we beat Chelski and get in to the Europa League?...Yes

So as much as 60 years following the Lads has taught me to be pessimistic, the last 4 years has told me that we can do absolutely anything we set our fuckin minds to.

So........YES. 😁😁😁

I would be over the moon to simply see us win a game in Europe. There's an entire generation never seen us compete at this level never mind win the thing.

I know Xhaka and the likes will demand more than a single win. They're here to compete, bit one step at a time.

This. Getting out of the league phase would be an outstanding achievement.

There's a know-how to playing twice a week at an elite level that half of our squad don't have yet and certainly the club and staff don't know.

Teams like AZ, Besiktas and Rangers will be tough games for us, let alone Milan, Juventus, Leverkusen, Benfica, Sociedad, Marseille etc.

Enjoy the rise and stay humble. No expectations except maximum effort.

We could but i doubt it. Again the main aim next season will be to secure our Premiership status but this should be easier than this year given the sides who are coming up.
Like this season it will be very much one game at a time. If we have a realistic chance of winning any competition next season we will go for it because I have no doubt that the biggest disappointment of the season just gone was that defeat at Port Vale and I am convinced that RLB and the owners were really upset about that, hence the drive to make amends when Europe was a possibility over the last 6 games or so

2014 League Cup aside, Im conditioned to us being shit in cup games. We lost to Port Vale ffs! Will gladly take anything that gets us to the knockouts. But aye, of course we can!

Absolutely not. It'll be harder than we expect it to be, whilst we try and manage the league and the cup at the same time, whilst being expected to put in good showings in League and FA Cups.

The Europa League season just gone was relatively weak, IMO. There are bigger dogs in it this year, for example Italy sent Roma and Bologna last year, they're sending AC Milan and Juventus this year. Marseille have qualified, as have Bayer Leverkusen.

My hope is that we at least finish in the top 24 of the league phase of the Europa League and so qualify for the knock-out round play-off. I'd be over the moon with being a seeded team in the knock-out round play-off and it would be beyond my wildest dreams to qualify automatically for the knockouts. I cannot ever imagine we'd make it as far as the quarters.
Roma finished 3rd in Serie A, Milan were 5th and Juventus 6th. I would also be over the moon with the knockout stages.

Of course we can. Some big hitters in there this year though. Leverkusen, Milan and juventus so far. Dunno if there was that calibre of opponent the season gone.

I just hope we make the knockouts for now. Don’t want to fall at the first hurdle. From there anything could happen
None of those 3 sides are anywhere near their best and most likely will not be close to that next season. They would all struggle to get champions league spots in the premier league anyway so we aren't really that far off based on current level

Given that our best performances were against the so called bigger teams this season. Why the hell not!
Especially with Xhaka geeing them on.

Ofcourse we can.
By virtue of being a Premier League side we're one of the richest clubs in the tournament.

I'm not saying we will (I don't think we will) but we have to be up there as one of the more likely teams.

We absolutely 100% can win it. We are the 7th best team in the PL, Aston Villa won it and we gave them a good game home and away this season.

But tbh I'm not even worrying about that, we have 8 games at a minimum, try and be in the top 24, one stage at a time.

Just enjoy the ride, hopefully not the case, but it might not happen very often.

We are an unknown to a lot of these teams and under their radar. If the home supporters can keep up a barrage of noise then anything is possible.

We’re in it so why not?, Villa won it and we’ve had pretty close games with them this season. We will be stronger as well, so why not.

From any Sunderland team in the past, I would expect one spectacular night against a big hitter, then bowing out meekly to a lesser name. Who knows with this squad? Very unlikely to win it, but there is a chance of something special. First step is to win at least 3 of the 8 league/group games, with an added draw or two, to make at least the play-off round.
