Happy Birthday you whippersnapper.I'm 28 today.
Big Sam's been quiet he must have a bob or two....didn't he get 400k for that undercover interview
It might have been mentioned on here but Mansfield must be pissed off as they got pipped for automatic last season and ended up losing the play offs ...the EFL must have known about the situation so should have swapped with Bury...so if Bury go then there will be extra promotion place presumably or only 3 for relegation...?
Credible bids coming in according to NW news so they might survive
Apparently 4 offers on the table, and the owner had said one of them is credible, so the EFL have said they could have a 24/48 extension to try and thrash out a dealHope it's true, but if the charlatan of an owner won't sell then today is their last day. (It's already Friday here as I'm 7 hours ahead of UK). Really hope they can survive, and Bolton too.
I agree their has to be more strict rules in place and if a fund was set up those rules would have to apply to be able to access, its a fund of last resort that turns clubs over to supporter groups on a interim basis but doesnt allow club to go out of business..Hopefully they won’t, because charlatan owners will just treat it as an extension of their bank balance.
More strict checks and balances on football club ownership will stop this.
Didn't Harry Mcguire come via Sheff Utd and Hull, leicester to Man Utd, 2 small clubs benefited from the system of raising their own player pocketed 2.5m Sheff Utd also played 130+ games for them...Problem for clubs like Bury and other smaller clubs is that it's no longer 'the breeding ground for players to develop and move on to the bigger clubs'.
The bigger clubs just hoover up any potential for their vast academies and just discard the hundreds that don't make the grade. The cost of transfers now makes that economical for them. There isn't the potential left for these clubs to develop. Traditionally that's how these clubs survived by developing a player or 2 along the way and selling to the bigger clubs but in recent years their methods have had to change to just scooping up the players the bigger clubs academies discard. One of their biggest revenue streams has dried up.
It won't be long before we operate like Spain, Holland and other countries where the big clubs have their 'B' or 'Young' teams operating in the equivalent of the championship avoiding them even loaning many to the small clubs for development. They will develop them internally using their own resources and playing them in the Championship.
My understanding used to be that the FA and EFL used to be a resposible organisation anxious to perpetuate and develope the UK game. Bury appear to have been reckless. The disgusting behaviour of the Mammon worshippers of the EFL and FA is 100% irresponsible and has allowed this to happen. It’s sad, but if things continue in this vein, removing them from the league is the correct thing to do.
There was a time when I would have thought that. But that was before their collective porcine snuffling round the trough became the accepted way of running foorball. I ahe utter contempt for all of them. Based on theit utter lack of decency and their consequent revolting behaviour. How much do they owe?
Wouldn’t you think the premier league - utterly awash with cash - could do something to help? Even a loan of some description or maybe some sort of hardship fund should be set up for lower league clubs that get into difficultly.
A fan was saying all his other businesses had gone into liquidation... If true how did he meet the EFL 'fit and proper' test and was able to buy the club for £1!!
It must be owners who buy clubs for a quid as oyston did the same with us.
We already know for well but the EFL really are a total waste of time.
So hope these clubs are sorted soon
Oh football talk.. were you guys sniffing around heneghan from sheff utd? Word is we are getting him on a season loan which is a great bit of business if works out.
Certainly not what the CEO said on radio this morningYou can say that again.
Anyway, pretty sure the EFL have admitted they didn't perform the O&D test properly before he took over, or some silly bollocks along those lines. f***ing shambles.
He doesn't want to save it. He wants the club to go, so the land is available for development.
Initially thats what i thought, but i read last night there's a clause (a covenant?) which goes with the land stating it can only be used for sport. So a housing development wouldnt be allowedHe doesn't want to save it. He wants the club to go, so the land is available for development.
