I didn’t realize they had lost 2 of their best players from last season on a free.

Egan-Riley was superb at the back for them and in the Championship team of the season. Brownhill got 18 so surely must have been the leagues leading midfield goal scorer?

Quite an achievement to get promoted to one of the best leagues in the World and lose 2 of your best players for nothing. Neither are old either but especially Egan-Riley would be a 20-25 million quid player in this market at only 22.

Keeper strongly linked with the Saudi nag punchers too

At least they might get money for him.

Not sure what happened with brownhill as he is hardly old at 29. And Egan-Riley it’s almost incompetent to let a young player of his quality run down his contract or not manage to agree an extension when you have premier league money.

If that happened here I can imagine the management getting pelters

Isn’t Brownhill still there?

I'm finding their transfer window completely fascinating to be honest. On top of two fantastic players leaving if you include the keeper (all from their defence, which was their star asset last season) they're completely hamstrung by FFP apparently, then on top of that they committed to sign a load of Championship level players they had on loan, then seemingly spending what money they money in exactly the way they have in previous Premier League campaigns.

9 players in so far, the Lazio lad looks a fairly astute signing based off some stats I've seen - but the rest are a couple of million here and there. Kyle Walker is experienced, but never struck me as much of a leader - and looked well past it at City. There doesn't seem to be any coherent plan at all, which is surprising because they have been through this all so recently...

I'm half tempted to stick a few quid on them staying up, purely because football is weird and never goes the way you'd expect. But I honestly can't see how they can expect to survive with their business so far.

Mate is a Burnley fan. Says they’ve also had to spend lots of money signing players they had on loan last season with mandatory purchase clauses if they went up. Most of these not going to cut it in the PL.

Their strategy likely to be same as last time under Kompany - sign lots of young players for £10-20m then sell the entire team at the end of the season for a profit when they get relegated.

Esteve has also been very heavily linked with Bayern but Burnley want £50m for him.

To be fair if they get anywhere near that for him that’s a great fee and they can strengthen.

My specific criticism of them was allowing 2 of their best players to leave for nothing. Which seems incompetent to say the least.

Egan-Riley hasn’t even gone to a well paying league or top team. Marseille.

Isn’t that essentially what we are doing. Almost all of the players we have signed or are linked with are young players around that value

Burnley weren't spending the sort of figures what we seem to be, when I've just been looking back at it.
