Just back from the game. What a night, must admit when they scored first I thought here we go, we wil battle but the extra quality will tell.

They did have more quality, but we played as a team. When we lost the ball we got men around their player to get the ball back. The midfield across the pitch worked hard d and were full of energy. The back four even looked solid!

At the end of the day we deserved to win.

I did like the “were in league and were taking the piss” chant “

Let’s get the take over sorted and will n on Saturday, then it’s been the best August since the Reid promotion and 104 points.

Went to the match. Decent start from both sides, but Burnley looked like they could cut us up with movement and pace. Feared the worst at 0-1 , but we steadied the ship a little. They really should have gone 2 up but hit the post twice in a matter of seconds, with both situations basically open goals.

It was a pleasant surprise to equalise with a well worked goal. Grigg had acres it seemed, before steering home. It appeared to rattle Burnley who lost their stride and fluency. Two early second half goals came from enterprising and positive play. Hart kind of messed up for the 2nd goal and the 3rd was a brilliantly worked corner. Burnley never recovered,

Pros n Cons as ever. Fantastic result with 8 changes against what ended up a very sterile home performance from a side full of Prem experience. Drinkwater never ran the show at any given point, but McGeoch did. The more agile legs around him were fairly awesome at times. Embleton and Dobson looked up to the pace and Gooch really forced himself into the game. He still had his moments where you're thinking release the bloody thing. He really should have squared to Dobson when he shot and Hart spilt for 2-1, so he got out of jail there. O'Nien showed he can cause problems in the centre off the front. He won the ball back high up the pitch several times in the second half and put them on the back foot. His mobility alongside Embletons natural talent and Dobsons energy will give Ross a headache I think. If those lads can perform like that in a more physical league one game, then they will possibly take the place of Power and Leadbitter sooner rather than later.

The centre halves both held firm after a shaky start and deserve credit. McLaughlin at his normal right back position was steady and far more comfortable. He read a few dangerous situations, unlike Hume who was caught out of position for their girl. Hume played well though, just shows his inexperience at times. Grigg took his chance well, but on a few occasions I was hoping he would show a bit more self belief after netting. It was a big improvement though to add to his cameos at Rochdale and home to Wimbledon.

Burge was ok, but he slipped in a situation where it just looked clumsy early on. His kicking was suspect a few times and he seemed rooted to his line when you'd expect a keeper to come and take a cross. I think I have his Cov SOL performance stuck in my brain and poss a wee bit critical.

Burge 6 McLauglin 7 Baldwin 8 Flannagan 7 Hume 7 McGeoch 8 Embleton 8 Dobson 7 Gooch 7 Grigg 7 O'Nien 8
Wyke & Power hardly had a kick in their time on the field, but both put the required shift in.

This is a cracking read:

The change between the first few pages and when the wheels came off..

Someone got it:

Same goes for the 8 Sunderland changes.

This is a league 1s 2nd string ide, and they've knocked 3 past us...

Just got back. We were excellent tonight. Pressed them hard without the ball, looked sharp and creative when we had it, battled them physically well, took our chances and really everyone put a shift in. We had a bit of luck at times particularly when they hit the post twice in one attack at 1-0 - that goes in and we'd have lost.

The main thing was the character. We went a goal down to a team 2 leagues above us and it would have been easy to just fold but we didn't. We matched them and at times looked like the higher ranked team.

I've been very critical of Ross but if he can keep this level of performane up from the team then I can really get behind him. Been very impressed with us particularly the last two matches. I'm not fully won over but i'm coming round to the idea of him staying longer.

Cracking team performance that, really enjoyed the game. Our fans were brilliant from start to finish. The steward stood next to us was pissing himself at the "We're in league 1 and we're taking the piss chant" 🤣. Have to say they are a nice bunch of people down there, very friendly. God knows what they put in the tomato ketchup down there though as I was buckled with heartburn after eating my chips.

I had us down to lose 3-1 so this is fantastic news! I've seen when they hit the post twice in the same attack. Extraordinary that. We've got the gods with us!

Many critical of ross and rightly so but hopefully learning the errors of his ways. Most myself included would love to see him succeed
