Burnley Forum

Yeah and I guess he has some credit in the bank for what they achieved last year. In his defence, he did lose Trafford and Egan-Reilly from that defence, and his captain, Josh Brownhill - they got £27m for Trafford and nothing for the other two, worth best part of £20-30m combined, so has probably been limited in what can be reinvested to an extent.

What he / they did last season was bloody great - and he deserves a lot of praise for it - equally it's the first week in December and he's publicly talking about his team not being up to it.

Its not great, whatever his rationale, it has consequences. You just known RLB would deflect and talk around it.....we have a cohesion in our club from top to bottom that I dont see in many others. I dont see it at Burnley and that leads to a blame mentality when times get tough and cracks start to show

They seem quite bitter -always liked them as a club ( well supported by their town when surrounded by bigger clubs )
They seem desperate to find reasons why we are doing well other than the fact we are in fact a half decent team /set up well with good players who never give up.. You need a bit of luck but we didn’t get a blatant hand ball v Everton or else we would have had 2 more points so “ swings and roundabouts “ as they say.
Long long way to go but so far so good
Winning £220 million through the play offs giving us the money to buy a whole new team tailor made to do well in the premiership probably had something to do with it 😉 that and recruiting decent backroom staff helped anarl.

Yeah, sometimes it easy to forget what a basket case we were - that quote took me right back to Moyes interview.
We're (thankfully) light years from there now.

It’s hard to be impartial isn’t it.

I had breakfast with a couple of old mates this morning - a Spurs ST holder and a United fan (who has a Dartford ST). We were talking through our 9 fixtures before the end of January. They both think a fair spread bet for us on points is to be 15-18 above 3rd bottom before the end of January. They were crying when I said that I was worried that if we lost to Burnley at the start of February, then they might go above us 😂. As I was saying it, I realised how ridiculous it sounds to someone who isn’t a Sunderland fan.

It’s so hard. When I look at the squad, the first 11, and watch the games, then I think we’re total class. When I look at the fixture list, I think we’re screwed 🤣🤣.
That is so being a Sunderland supporter. Most of us are still looking at the results of Wolves, Leeds, Burnley etc and being gutted when they get something! It’s hard to think otherwise when we’ve suffered years of absolute crap and the natural instinct is to expect us to drop like a stone.

In reality though we are a quality, well organised top flight team with a world class midfielder as our captain (can’t believe I’ve just typed that!) and shouldn’t be worrying about the bottom of the table or the fixtures as we’ve proved we can get results against anybody.

It's becoming suspiciously enormous amounts of luck.

Was the red straight from the ref or did VAR get involved out of curiosity?
Ref I think, in fairness it looks like a res but I've not seen the proper replays. Elanga was through on goal, looks daft from the Burnley player.

Ffs. The mags have loads of luck. They'll cruise to victory now.

The Burnley player got a red and luck had nothing to do with it, it was a good run and a shit challenge. Penalty was bloody obvious as well.
Unfortunately they seem to be hitting a decent bit of form at present

Not sure about the red and if the penalty was handball then fair enough, but you can’t deny the mags are getting a call heavily in their favour per game.

Both were the right calls like from the brief looksl I got.

Absolute gift wrapping the win for the scum

They are very decent at home.

Been poor away. Challenge is for us is to keep that up.

Bring them on next week I say…

They’re a good team. They qualified for the champions league last season

It's a bit bonkers how many of our fans completely dismiss them as a shite team.

They've spent £700m+ and are a Champions League side.

There's plenty on here expecting us to cruise to victory next week. Crazy stuff.

They’ll go ahead of us if they win iirc. We’re basically on a par as far as points go

Can see what is going to happen either xhaka or Sadiki or both will miss the game. And they will beat us and go above us in the league. I know people will call me a mag or tell me to keep the faith but I have followed the lads since the 80s and that's what happens to us.
