Burnley Forum

Years later being the operative word there. This is a year apart. Huge game for them yet it was easily the smallest turnout, I’d say Huddersfield brought pretty much the same number up. Was as strange as their teams performance. If they’d had beaten us they were right back in it. Seems fans and players have thrown in the towel.
It wasn't a huge game for them
They're as good as down before our match
Most had given up and rightly so.
If they won they would have been 8 points off safety.

Last time in the prem and championship we took away ends less than ful lots of times
I was part of a few hundred in Cardiff away in January in the championship. Didn't sell anywhere near half our tickets

Of course it was a big game for them, beat us and they wouldn’t be that far off. Still have them above to play if I’m not mistaken. It was huge game.

Evidently not as lots of fans didn't go.
They didn't go as most think they will go down
They haven't won in 15 now
'beat us and they wouldnt be far off'😂 they would be 8 points from safety, winning 4 in 24! But expecting to win 3 more games than forest and Leeds in the last 14.- so maybe 6-7 wins out of 14. Doable but hardly likely.

A lot of our fans have a bit of a superiority complex regarding other teams fans.

In 2013/14 I was at man city when we drew 2-2 and we only sold about the same proportion as Burnley did as most fans thought we were down. And that wasn't a Monday night game having to take days off work to attend.

And guess what, that was a big game as we ended up staying up that season.

If teams lose lots of games and fans expect to lose , then people don't want to go to games.
It's simple.
It's nothing to deride a fan base over.
What was most surprising though in our first season back, the apathy set in so much that about 50% of our fans left before the final whistle. In what was a really important game for us, if we have visions of europe.
Arsenal away that season when we lost 4-1 - nowhere near selling out

These were all important games as we actually stayed up. But at the time the fan base didn't think we would and we were awful at the time

They play West Ham after us, if they’d had beaten us that game becomes even bigger. One poor turn out by us doesn’t make that turn out by them any less poor no? They’ve thrown in the towel that’s clear as fans, we’ve seen teams come back from way worse situations this season has been mental with teams beating teams not expected too, teams going on runs etc. It’s not beyond reality that they could’ve beat us then west ham and bee right back in the mix.

What I'm proving is that all teams are like this.
If they lose lots , they stop selling out.
We didn't sell out lots of games in seasons we stayed up.
Burnley have a much smaller catchment

If we didnt sell out on Saturdays away at arsenal and man city (in a season we ultimately stayed up in), and we have great away fans- i'm unsure why anyone is suprised that a team 11 points from safety, with no wins in 14 (before our game) on a cold Monday night wouldn't sell out !
