Seems like the council are planning on making Burdon Road bus only for a stretch, forcing traffic past Venerable Bede school or through Silksworth. Not sure who comes up with these plans.

The council have said that it's after complaints from residents in one of the streets off Burdon Road, but feedback on social media from residents of that street know absolutely sod all about it. So it's Road noise versus putting more traffic through Silky or past a busy school where parents clog up the route whilst picking their kids up.

That road has got busier since they did roadworks on Durham Road a few years ago a lot of people use it instead to get in and out the town now. Stupid decision if they put a bus lane in.

looking at that plan, that's an incredible amount of land earmarked for new housing. all on the outskirts of the town. while acres of land stands derelict in the town.

then the council will wonder why no one goes to the city centre. build on f***ing hendon and pennywell for fucks sake. and make it affordable. or build social housing on them sites so people aren't at the mercy of private landlords.

In 2015 Sunderland council was named as one of the top 19 councils in the country with the most Brownfield space and there was going to be a government led initiative to get this space used as part of the drive for new affordable housing to meet the coming generations.
Not turning out to well is it?
The space left vacant at Pennywell is right on a dual carriageway within spitting distance of the A19. Surely a better option than uprooting livestock at Penshaw.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's supposed to be Burdon Road by the Civic Centre and someone in the planning office has just got confused.

I imagine the council will think people don't want to live in 'pennywell' but I'm if there was half decent social or affordable housing there (Wonder what was there before?) I'm sure in this day and age people wouldn't give a fuck. It's not like the old days where these estates were crime ridden. Flood the place with decent houses and decent people for fucks sake

Is this the road from Tunstall Village Green ( top of Ryhope Bank) to the Doxy dual carriageway? If so why didn't the OP say so?

They built Deerness Park as low cost housing to encourage home ownership in Hendon. Most of it is now owned by private landlords and rented out to DSS people.

Because I've said Burdon Road and provided a map.
Not everyone can be arsed clicking on stuff.
Plus as has been pointed out other Burdon Rds are available.
Not everyone knows road names but will know it if what is at either end is pointed out.
On a phone the map is virtually unreadable.

Or is Burdon Rd the back road out of Ryhope from The Guide Post that eventually turns ower the A19?
Or is it the one from the eastern most roundabout on the Doxy Freeway to the road that goes past the Guide Post?

IM still not beyond signing the petition yet but......
