He's a 4th seamer though and needs to come on when the opposition are under pressure or are rebuilding as he can bowl wicket taking deliveries.

As @smoker says he is an impact bowler and I think he's handy on flat decks and can makes something happen. He's very much a horses for courses selection

Sums up modern cricket, Wood, Stokes and Carse , all Durham and we get relegated with a ridiculously weak bowling attack ..... and little chance of seeing any of them soon either. Coupled with playing most of the season in April and September the 4 day county game continues to be battered by the powers that be ..... rant over , hat, gloves and scarf on ..... off to the riverside, first day.

They are all injured mind. (even though Carse in India)

Stokes was supposed to be involved but that cheek injury he sustained while with Durham in winter nets has ruled him out
