Brobbey

The two Sunderland signings that got me the most excited in my whole life (I am 48) were Sessegnon and Brobbey. Two completely unplayable players, for different reasons. Nice - Quiet - Lovely - he is the player I would most hate to lose from our club. He is perfect for us and I think we are perfect for him. Give him love.

Was just about to post the same. How much did they pay for Delap? Maybe double what we paid for 3B and he's had zero impact in the game. Could say the same about Gykores and Arsenal paid 3 times as much for him.

I'm really looking forward to seeing him up against van Dijk.

When we get the likes of Diarra playing off him you can see alarm bells going off in the defenders heads as the have to double up on him as he is a goal threat in his own right.
He will have VVD on toast. His legs have gone and Brobbey will be his worst nightmare

There are times when he lets the ball bounce instead of attacking it, confident enough in his ability to hold the centre half off while it comes to him. Having the ability to create that time and space for himself in the Premier League is simply extraordinary.
I'd say creating a situation where the ball bounces is a good thing. It causes chaos for defenders who should never let the ball bounce.

May have been mentioned but there was an incident at the stroke of half-time involving Walker and Brobbey with the former refusing to shake the latter’s hand. He must have a death wish or a desire to be put out of his misery at Burnley.
Aye, Brobbey had a few words with Walker I noticed at HT after that was refused.

Walker probably took one look at Brobbey and thought ‘shit.’ and just scuttled away down the tunnel ahead of him.

Ironically, I’ve been singing his song at the top of my voice home and away. I’ve also wanted him off the pitch minutes before he’s gone and done something like score that goal against Spurs.

Those goals are finishes, and they do look great, but they’re instinctive rather than composed. He’s had a couple of one-on-ones now that he hasn’t finished. He had one in the first half last night where he miscontrolled it, he’s had air shots, and he completely missed the ball just before Talbi scored.

I get the stick I’m getting and I’m not blind. I can see the job he’s doing. He was a beast last night, contributed massively to the win, and if he keeps playing like that he’ll have plenty of goal involvements. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be in the team. He’s a massive upgrade on what we’ve had in recent years.

He’s just not for me, but he’s absolutely the right choice as our forward right now.
Fair comments, but at the moment its horses for courses. Brobbey may not have the finesse of Henry or Aguero but he is very, very good at what he does. Probably could say the same about Nordi. Hes not a slinky winger in the traditional sense but, in the absence of a right winger, we've adapted a system so his Hakimiesque talents are utilised to maximum effect. I think both of them love match day and being let off the leash.

I thought Monday was his best game for us by a long way to be honest, I thought he was superb.

All season long, we have not really utilised our strikers enough, they've been very isolated. I think the same was true for Isidor & Mayenda when they were getting starts; honestly, I think they were doing as best they could in the circumstances.

Brobbey obviously gives you a different dimension to the others because he's so strong; if he had a bit more pace to threaten in behind, he'd be the complete striker. It looks like Diarra will link up with him a lot more than our other midfielders which is great and maybe means we'll try those passes into him a bit more.

Deserved a goal for his efforts on Monday. He was tremendous. Had the Burnley defence on strings.

We've all been salivating at the prospect of linking up with Brobbey properly. Bringing him into the game more is a no brainer.

Diarra is just the man for the job. Can't wait.
Lots of striker can miss one on ones at 23 and I expect very low on confidence coming here he’s been phenomenal and made the team click and look far more assured the composure will come but if you asked me right now would I pick anyone ahead of him from the rest of the premier league teams bar Haarland it would be a firm no for me and the scary thing is I don’t think we’ve even scratched the surface at how good he’s going to be
Several nails on the head there marra.

We have got him for an absolute bargain. It's crazy what one poor season can do to a player's value. Fits this league to a T. Also, in regards to pace, don't let his size fool you, the lad got going chasing a ball the other day and was flying. He and Diarra are going to be a joy to watch, he's perfect for that advanced CM role to link up with Brobbey and be the runner he needs when he holds it up
but he’s missed some guilt-edge chances that I’d expect a centre forward to put away. That’s probably what frustrates me most, however, he is bringing stuff to the table so I am not going to be shouting from the rooftops to drop him or anything.

FWIW, Brobbey has a very decent conversion rate in the league out of all the strikers (29.41%). He's scored 5 from 17 shots. Only 9 starts too. All strikers miss chances, look at Haaland. But the rest of what he brings to the table shows how involved he is and how vital he is for our attack even when he isn't scoring. The lad has only just turned 24 too. We have a proper striker on our hands

His fitness has improved massively since his first appearance, shown a turn of pace as well which is great. Looks to be going from strength to strength no pun intended. Very important player.
Get a full pre-season under his belt and he could be next seasons Thiago....if he gets 15+ league goals, will all his other attributes, it's gonna take serious money to sign him!

Reminds me a bit of Heskey. Probably won't be banging 15+ a year in but plays a huge role, particularly with how we play.

Sunderland is perfect for him. At one of the top 6 he'd be slated for not scoring enough - we see his value more

He terrorised the mags.

Monday was easily his best game...allround. Literally unplayable.

Also....don't judge players after 1 game...he was getting pelters from some after his Palace away cameo.

There is no other player like Brian as far as I'm concerned. He must be the strongest centre forward in the world currently and he can shift as well. His high work rate comes in his battling to keep hold of the ball. We have some players on our hands and Brobbey just adds to that, long may it continue and you know what I think it will.

I have followed the lads for many a year and my favourite centre forward has got to Vic Halom.
He could put himself about a bit but is a lightweight in comparison.
