Yes, and if they had the capacity I bet they could double that. Amazing what they have done since nearly dropping out the league. I was at Croft Park the night Blyth knocked them out the cup - I think they were then bottom of League Two. All the TV money has actually made the PL a level playing field for the majority of clubs. Apart from the really big clubs who are able to tap into match day revenue- not as in the old days of eighty or ninety pence admission but rather corporate stuff, wining and dining, merchandise etc - and with football appealing to the middle classes, ridiculously expensive season tickets.

Of course we can. We cant do it by “buying” our way into the top six, but a few more years of “the model” and Premier money could, with the right investment, have us as a regular top six. Any team could do it.
Money doesn’t guarantee success, look at Utd and Spurs. Sustainability has to be the focus.

The problem with football now it's about the size of your owners bank balance and nothing else. Sadly, the likes of us are addicted to the sport otherwise we'd probably not bother with it!
It could be argued that the likes of Sunderland and Leeds should be mid prem minimum due to our footballing pedigree.
I'm not particularly a fan of the 4 clubs listed - all there because of having billionaires as owners. When Leeds had their most recent top flight stint they 'only' had a millionaire owner, hence couldn't compete with them.

We’ve never done it and we’re miles away from it. If we got some ambitious investors in then things could be quickly change, but we’ll be a yo-yo club under the current regime.

You're right. Looking at our finishing positions and league status since we were first relegated to the second tier in 57/58 the 07/08 to 15/16 was the longest period we stayed in the top flight where we managed to finish 10th one then never above 13th.

The topic was teams who’ve been in the top 6 regularly. I wouldn’t say anything less than 10 is regular personally, but certainly not teams who’ve done it once.
