Boro thread

Do Hull still do that cringeworthy 'mauling' goal celebration?

Not that I’m an avid hull fan, to be honest I only want hull to come up as decent away day and I’d rather do that than travel to Southampton

Yes apparently they were doing it against Millwall the other night from some videos I have seen in Instagram.

You make a good point, not sure I want them up now 🤣

I’ve watched a lot of Boro games this season. The coach has done a great job to get them as close to Wembley as last night , given the obvious lack of quality in that squad. Being forced to bring on Sarmiento and even worse Castledine ( he is woeful ) , was the death knell for Boro. Whittaker was poor, Strelec was completely anonymous, Ayling who is decent against bog standard championship level strikers, struggled again. The need a massive ckear out and influx of better players.
That Castledine was fecking woeful like 😂

Whittaker was absolutely shite like.

The ‘spying’ looks like it was done from a public road/area. Ffs. Being made into much more than it is. Boro are just absolutely shite and need to accept that.
They were after the first 20 minutes last night.
The secret video told southampoton no one in the boro side could run fast and dont have stamina

Twice that Casteldine lad was carrying the ball into space with 3 options and did nowt before being tackled, such a frustrating player to watch

It’s going to tough in the Championship next year. Wolves & Spurs or West Ham will still be strong Boro will have to do it in the playoffs again good news is 8th will help them out next year

Fair assessment. The biggest difference last night was squad depth. We had nothing to bring on any where near the level of the starting XI, they did.

Do yous have any kids ready to break into the first team? Not watched you loads but a bit of a squad refresh and a new striker and yous should be ready to do again next season. Not sure what to expect from the 3 relegated sides but can see Wolves and West Ham struggling

Shame Boro couldn't get through last night. Hope Hull come up now rather than Southampton

I was watching with my eldest grandson who is a Boro ST holder and 15 mins into the second half I said “ if all he has to bring on is Sarmiento and Castledine here ,they can only hope to make to pens” , I don’t know who oversaw the incomings in January , but Gibson missed a huge chance to get up second.

None have really had a chance in the first team. Had a couple feature on the bench but mainly covering gaps caused by injury rather than merit. It is a shame as we have always had a good number of youth players come through and the U21 are doing well.

If we can keep

Jones
Malanda
Morris
Brittain
Whittaker
Conway
McGree

We have a decent starting point. We need a refresh in attack and a Hackney replacement. I am convinced we have a good manager and excited to see him get a full pre season and get rid of who he doesn't want - which appears a fairly long list.

It seems we put everything on getting Adam Armstrong until Wolves came in (theme from last season). We also went on a 6 game winning run in January scoring for fun and i think they thought we could get it done with what we had. Sadly a number of attacking players have not delivered this year after signing

Sene
Hansen
Sarmiento
Strelec

Castledine is not yet top half Championship and was brought in for development but was way off it last night.

We all knew we needed a striker, i do think it would have made a difference when i look at the games at home where we just couldn't find the net.

To be fair, Castledine could run fast just not with the ball or the correct direction.

Sarmiento looks like he is running fast but doesn't actually appear to go anywhere, like a hyperactive dog.

Millwall home prime example, a half decent striker and you could all have stayed at the bar for the second half. I’ve never been impressed with Strelec mind. Invisible last night. Thought your best player over the two legs was Fry.
