Boro thread

I’ve watched a lot of Boro games this season. The coach has done a great job to get them as close to Wembley as last night , given the obvious lack of quality in that squad. Being forced to bring on Sarmiento and even worse Castledine ( he is woeful ) , was the death knell for Boro. Whittaker was poor, Strelec was completely anonymous, Ayling who is decent against bog standard championship level strikers, struggled again. The need a massive ckear out and influx of better players.

What is very very obvious is that Gibson failed to back them properly in January when they had a good shot at the automatics. The squad needed firepower and they didn't get it

Whenever I’ve watched Boro (not too often admittedly), they always run out of steam around the hour mark. Yesterday’s game plan once Southampton inevitably equalised seemed to be to hang on for penalties.
They were poor and I suspect Boro fans were expecting better regardless of all the spy gate guff.

The changes to the playoffs will make it even more of a lottery next season. I could easily see two of the relegated clubs coming straight back up leaving 3 to 8 fighting a one leg cup competition.

We'll never know if that is the case though. The January transfer market is historically a difficult window to get transfers over the line and achieving value is more difficult. They could have had a list of targets that would have improved them but for whatever reason they couldn't agree a deal. Whilst it's easy to say they should have brought in a better striker, we all know it's not always as simple as that, there are so many factors to consider and Gibson would not want to put the club in jeopardy.

A club could go out and spend £10m, putting themselves at risk, rolling the dice hoping it will be enough for promotion, but that player may struggle to adjust or get injured in their first training session. I guess a loan transfer with a view to buy would have been the ideal, but unsure if they were limited in that respect in any way in terms of their current quota.

Work out how much tv money they’d get from the PL. Then ban them from promotion for that number of years when they’re back in the FL. £200m means 200 year ban from promotion. They get a year off their sentence for every £1m they donate to the FL who then share it out amongst this years FL members, all 71 of em.
Watch em squirm while handing over the full amount.

Been reported boro now have evidence that Southampton have spied on two other clubs during the season - talkSPORT

Blatant cheating to gain an advantage! I actually thought the boro manager spoke well about it.

Although do not like boro (that’s not the point though) I really hope they throw Southampton out of the play offs!

Hope hull come up regardless whether it is boro or Southampton in the final.

Do Hull still do that cringeworthy 'mauling' goal celebration?
