Boro thread

I am sure Middlesbrough will come good and finish in or around mid table but some of their supporters who I work with are talking like the season is over already. Whilst I appreciate that it is their worst start to a season in something like 47 years, the season is only six games old and perspective is required.
They are a strange bunch, even more grumpy and pessimistic than us at present. A lot of my colleagues seem to think Sheffield Wednesday, who has made an identical start to the season as Boro, will be handed a gift-wrapped three points this evening by virtue of the fact that they haven't won a match yet and are due one.
A fairly level-headed bloke who watches them home and away told me that Middlesbrough were always going to lose at Blackburn last Saturday because it marked the occasion of their 5,000th football league game. Work that one out!

And how many years did it take you to rise to the top of League One?

In fact, you weren't ever at the top were you? Didn't you sneak up via the play-offs?

Massive club though.
Chill out. We had a few utterly shite years, the club was at its lowest ebb. But we got out of there eventually and last season and this season we’re playing excellent football.

They seem to be a bit gutted on how we’re looking.

How can they look at their team and think it's close to ours?

  • 1 Dieng
  • 3 van den Berg
  • 6 Fry
  • 26 Lenihan
  • 27 Engel
  • 7 Hackney
  • 28 O'Brien
  • 18 Silvera
  • 25 Crooks
  • 8 McGree
  • 19 Coburn
How many of them would have started for us at Blackburn? Nevermind if Ekwah, Cirkin, Alese or Rusyn were available.

Genuinely never heard of any of them …

I’m just really pleased, we’ve got such a good team/squad/manager and culture at the club now.

Long May it continue

Their keeper scored vs us last season for QPR

But I think Hackney would fighting for a spot in midfield

Wouldn't start over Dan Neil, Ekwah, or Jobe but would be a decent option

I think Fry, Lenihan, Crooks, McGree and O'Brien are handy players, but I think Ballard, Pritchard, Clarke and Neil are definitely better and O'Nien probably is equivalent to Fry.

The rest are no brainers in our favour imo.

We were without Forss the other night, who is a decent player at this level, and I rate our RB Djiksteel, although Carrick doesn't seem to and has preferred Tommy Smith over him.

Jones also should have started the other night. Think you could easily make a case for him being good enough to start in a Sunderland team at present.

Losing Akpom, Ramsey and Archer has really fkd you up.

They're big misses for sure but we shouldn't be where we are in the table with the squad we have.

Carrick needs to forget about bedding in most of the new signings for now and pick the players who were with us last season.

Their finishing seems to be the reason they are down there atm from what I've seen so far this season. Barring the Sheff Wed game they've created enough chances to have loads more points than they've got.
