Boro thread

We were without Forss the other night, who is a decent player at this level, and I rate our RB Djiksteel, although Carrick doesn't seem to and has preferred Tommy Smith over him.

Jones also should have started the other night. Think you could easily make a case for him being good enough to start in a Sunderland team at present.

I genuinely think Hume is one of the best right backs in the division, if not the best. That's one position I wouldn't see as a weakness in our team.

Fair enough but it sounds similar to his first year at Boro. Came in and steadied the ship after Strachan, gave youngsters a chance and unearthed some gems in the transfer market, then midway through his first full season in charge we imploded.
Big difference is Mowbray is not signing the players himself. That's out of his hands and all he has to do is coach the team. We have a recruitment team who know the type of players we want to fit our style of play. Only time will tell if it's successful but its going to be fun finding out.

My dad is brilliant at it. We miss a chance or two, 'we'll get beat now, can see it a mile off'
My dad is the same, miss a chance or concede in the first 10 minutes, and “it’s not going to be our day, son”. If we then don’t win, at the end he’ll say “told you so, son”.

Still very early days. Think ourselves and Sunderland will both end up being midtable come the end of the season to be honest.

Sunderland have started well but how many times have Mowbray teams imploded 2nd half of the season.
Well we certainly didn't implode the 2nd half of last season. Carricks side though, imploded and is still imploding.

It’s all Blackburn and Boro can come up with. Will dip this, will dip that. Every club in the land will have a few
Losses on the trot. So what. Will they not have a dip. Are Boro not having a dip? Complete tosh..

It's wishful thinking. The more educated amongst their support realise that we have a quality squad. They can continue to underestimate us all they like, I'm going to continue watching the fantastic football we're playing.

"When Clarke expertly rounded the whole of the Blackburn defence and keeper, I couldn't help but think why can't Silvera do that? Then it dawned on me that it's because Clarke is better than Juninho in his prime. As I wiped away the tears remembering the little Brazilian's jinxing runs, I grabbed my phone and enquired about getting my ears pierced just like Jack Clarke."

It struck me the other night that it was less about personnel than preparation and having a system. The left back had an absolute nightmare and your right winger was very weak but the biggest problem was that the team didn't seem to know what to do and was completely devoid of confidence. The ball kept going to the midfield and then they would just off load it to the defence and then often back to the keeper, that was even without much of a press from Wednesday. The worry for me would be that Carrick, like Roy Keane was when he was a manager, may be used to better players and he's at a loss how to organise a team with lesser abilty. Wednesday have a substantially worse group of players than Middlesbrough (I mean- Ahsley Fletcher) so I would be mainly concerned about Carrick.
