Yep, the gov should have issued and discussed proper guidance a few weeks ago
Similarly schools should have closed / gone online a week earlier and potentially gone back 1 week earlier in January

the gov now know 5 days is too big a window but refuse to admit they don’t know what they are doing .....end of December and jan will see huge rises in cases I fear

This isn’t a lockdown in reality though is it, compared with phase 1
Education in full swing, work normal, all shops open.
Understand why, and agree on why it’s like this.
Just don’t expect numbers to fall the same as they did last time around.
Believe kids are the biggest issue, this isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

I think another lockdown would have to be decided in parliament, MPs can be recalled with 48 hours notice, would a third lockdown pass through the commons ......

Agreed - I’m not a fan of them either, I doubt anyone is, but even relative to the virus I don’t advocate them...BUT...if you’re on the side of lockdowns and restrictions as the government are, then capitulating into a free for all on Christmas is ridiculous.
