Borini

Obviously doesn't fancy the move here permanent by the looks of things, set a deadline & if it passes, we move on.

Strange one though, you'd have thought he'd have been sounded out prior to the bid going in mind !

We couldn't sound out him out directly before agreeing the fee, but there's his agent.

My take on the situation … Borini is very ambitious. He wants to play at the very top level, and that means Champions League The way he'd have envisaged his career plan would be coming to us for a season, getting plenty of premiership under his belt, and proving he can cut it. Then going back to Liverpool, where he was quite prepared to fight for a place and make the most of opportunities that would come through their high number of games. For a little player, the lad has towering self-belief. But he's taken a knock. Brendan Rogers doesn't rate him as highly, and Liverpool find themselves with money to spend on better forwards, from the Suarez sale, and regaining Champions League qualification earlier than they expected

It's a big knock for Fabio, he's having to readjust from hopes of playing in a top-four side and amongst Europe's elite, to being sold to a currently lower-half of the league side. I don't doubt that Fabio genuinely respects Gus and likes our club - this despite a painful start here under Mad MacPaolo. He's just not jumping to be here because it's a big come down from the level he was expecting to play at. We shouldn't take offence, it's not the club but the level we are at. His dream has been set back, it'll take him a bit of time to adjust.

His agent will be far more pragmatic, knowing that as Liverpool don't want him then his client will have to lower his sights and make the best of it. So he may have given us hope in the old 'sounding out'

60/40 in our favour.

He didn't accept a bid for him though! This would be totally understandable if they had turned our offer down.

He publicy critcised club, Rodgers took a player who wanted to leave, same argument.

Just because a bids been accepted doesnt mean all we have to do is agree terms with Borini. Borini hasnt asked for transfer so will be entitled to 10% of fee, something he may not be willing to give up.

Liverpool accepted a bid in May 2013 for Carroll. He flew back from the USA in June to sign for West Ham, he was there on holiday like and he waited till it was over

When does it happen? Players leave pre season all the time when a bid is accepted. I honestly can't think of another time when a club accepts a bid of £14m for a player and then plays them in a meaningless friendly the next day.
As I said he may still sign but this is not normal practice.
its happened with davies over the past few days for a start. It will happen whenever a deal isnt complete and a replacement hasnt been signed.

It's nothing like the same. Liverpool wanted to keep Suarez they turned down bids for him why would they then leave him out of a tour?
They have already accepted a bid so why would he be giving anything up?
There may be a perfectly good reason for it. All I'm saying is that it isn't normal practice. It doesn't mean he won't sign for us but it's not a
Positive thing.

I honestly have no opinion on it - I'd love him to come but if he doesn't I hope we find a suitable replacement - but some of the stuff I've seen on here has just been a bit silly.
id love him here but ive been saying since day one we are not a big enough or should i say not ambitious enough club for him , hes top drawer and deserves a club that can match his ambition

Davies just flew out of preseason when a fee was agreed. They turned down a bid from Liverpool a couple of days ago hence he went on the pre season tour with Swansea.

Now I'd disagree on the 'ambitious' part. If I were trying to convince him to come here I'd be playing up the idea that we wanted to sign players of his quality and so on.

Plus there's the possibility that European clubs don't think he's up to their standards.

Because you think transfers are simple, they arent.

Liverpool have accepted a 14m bid, if Borini wants his cut that 12.6m to Liverpool, minus any add ons that may need to be paid to Roma.

The reason he may not be here is because Liverpool want all the fee and Borini want his cut, could have nothing to do with SAFC. Suarez went to Indonesia is my point despite saying he didnt want to play for Liverpool. He was a profesional, he could easily have went awol but he didnt.

Yes mods stick this in the Borini thread just wanted to show my frustration at the constant whining about It costing us 14m!! It's 10.5 plus add ons. In other words we pay the extra should he succeed. If you don't think that's worth it then you are brain dead!!!
Which bit of 'he's not coming here anyway' have you got trouble in understanding?
You're having a tantrum about nothing. :)

if he was to be the only big signing we were after whats the point (im thinking of his opinion) we need to improve and hope he is the start of it but im not holding my breath
