Sunderland manager Gustavo Poyet has indicated that Santiago Vergini, who spent the last six month of last season at the Stadium of Light will be returning for another spell on Wearside after undergoing a medical at the clubs training ground.

Poyet also said that contract talks between Fabio Borini and the club need to be resolved in the next 24 hours or the club will have to move on to other targets with the season opener away to West Bromwich Albion a little over a week away.
