Booing the team off

On what grounds does that Plymouth team deserve “respect”, exactly?

They’re rock bottom of the league.
They haven’t won a league game in almost three months
They haven’t won an away league game in nine months
They were 5-0 down at half time last time out
They had three away points (zero wins) all season, going in to that game yesterday. Scoring three goals and conceding 35 in their 14 away games.

They’re an absolute calamity of a football team. Truly awful, and certainly not a team to be “respected”.

The fact is that we should have brushed them aside yesterday. We as supporters had absolutely every right to expect the easiest of easy wins. Our team massively let us down, and we are entitled to react to that.

Their performance deserved respect - they didn’t play like a team stranded at the bottom.
And as for booing I have booed the team off in the past, but only in games where it looks like they didn’t give a shit. This team obviously do, and I’m sure they were all feeling bad enough without us booing them.

Have you wondered why the atmosphere is so bad with performances like that marra.
Also it happens at other clubs don't forget.
If I go to work and don't do my job my boss certainly reminds me!

We were playing a team who are bottom of the league, just been hammered, and only scored 3 goals away from home. Then despite them looking rubbish they scored two goals, got a draw and tbh had better chances to have won the game than us.

It’s a complete free hit for both Burnley and Leeds now in a game where it should have been a no-lose situation for us. On Thursday they’d have been thinking they cannot afford to lose yet now they’re basically no worse off and a win would be massive

They played how we allowed them to play, with our lacklustre, low tempo approach and our ludicrous decision to retreat back in to our box for the last 20 minutes.

It was all about how utterly appalling we were. We should have been all over them at 100mph from the first whistle, and that game should have been dead by half time.

Yes you’re right, but that’s on the manager not the players, and him and them have enough credit in the bank not to be booed off.
 
Rightly or wrongly people pay their hard earned money to come to the game, I understand why they'd be pissed off to turn up and for the team to half arse it like they did, regardless of who's fault it was.

Can understand the prawn sandwich brigade thinking booing was below them, but generally it's part of normal football culture. Booing the ref and opposition players etc.

People thinking it's weird for fans to chant and sing, and shout, is why our atmosphere is crap these days.

aye when things are going against us it's always best in sit and quietly accept it... when the performance is low and they're against the ropes that's when we need to use the 41k people there. Teams know that we get on the players backs and it let's them into games. Every miss placed pass is met with thunderous gasps the players feel the crowds engery as well as the crowd feeling the players.
 
Same happens at Hillsborough and lots of other teams, don't win and some entitled goobers start booing.

We drew 2-2 with Bristol city Wednesday night just gone and even though we were awful the last 20 minutes the booing on the final whistle was brutal. Anyone would think we had lost 5-0.
