Starting Saturday.
Line drawn under today’s debacle, perhaps a trip away from Riverside will be good for everyone, especially the batsmen.
Let’s have your XI’s lads, this could be fun
For reference, current form:
Lees - 180 runs at 45 (8, 106, 66, 0)
Dickson - 30 runs at 7.50 (11, 14, 2, 3)
Steel - 21 runs at 5.50 (9, 11, 1, 0)
Bedingham - 115 runs at 28.75 (8, 77, 5, 25)
Harte - 83 runs at 27.67 (33*, 29, 18, 3)
Burnham - 41 runs at 10.25 (7, 2, 5, 27)
Eckersley - 19 runs at 4.75 (6, 0, 8, 5)
Raine - 56 runs at 18.67 (7, 0, 24*, 25)
With the massive caveat of course that realistically, it’s not worth taking too much notice of averages until lads have had 8-10 innings’.
Personally I feel that the batting should remain the same, if these lads have started the season, I don’t see much point making changes. It’s a bastardised season to begin with, but is it really fair to bomb someone off the back of two games?
There are a number of batsmen who’ll no doubt be desperate for a score, some are probably playing for their career truth be told, but I don’t see any point whatsoever of a knee jerk.
We’ve got what we’ve got and I just hope - as I said elsewhere - that the coaches/management don’t do anything daft with regards to getting rid of anyone because I just don’t think anyone can be written off going on performances in this thrown together competition.
Happy to debate that position with anyone, I’ve no doubt some will already be calling for the heads of various players but I’m not willing to write anyone off just yet.
All I hope is that the club are in as good a position financially that they can keep hold of the current crop and atleast allow them to prove their worth in 2021.
