There’s going to be arguments for both cases but the steady decline under Obama hasn’t taken a different path under Trump as the graph suggests. Will read up on your last point for sure.

I’m also aware that there has been some positive elements of the Trump administration regarding the economy but I believe he is toxic and is a danger to the world not just Americans.

As I’ve said before mate, I love Philly and hope you and your family are safe. If you believe that you are safer under Trump then who am I to say different. One thing that I must say is that over recent years the separation between left/right brexiteer/remainer etc has made the world toxic and it’s not a world I am proud of. We need leaders and media that promotes unity as well as looks after the economy, surely that isn’t too much to ask?

I never voted Republican in my life, and you’re right, everything is toxic now...but from my vantage point, Democrats and the media in this country are evil. This isn’t the same party I used to vote for and I’ll never vote for them again! They’re openly for socialism/communism and they’re doing everything they can to tear this country apart. Wearing red, white & blue gets you in a fight. Hang an American flag and it gets vandalized...my eyes are truly open now and it’s obvious they’re liars and frauds. My whole family are Democrats and they’re starting to see it as well...they let rioters destroy cities, allowed people to get assaulted, people businesses get torched! I got no time for leftists in my life right now....

We need leaders and media that actually tell the truth instead of bending the truth to fit their agenda and bending it so far it no longer reflects reality.
Be it left media or right they seem to have lost all ability to report the facts, they omit things and add half truths in a bid to guide us in what in their opinion is the right direction.

The media should go back to reporting the facts in the most unbiased way possible and let us mere mortals make up our own minds. We don't need them to tell us how we should think, most of us know the difference between right and wrong and we can get there by ourselves.

Don’t live there so can’t dispute how you feel. However the things you say sound like the sort of things the UK media and Torys project upon the Labour Party. If you want a N*gger for a neighbour vote Labour is what they used to say ffs. But even today the stories that get thrown about are quite laughable in their attempt at misdirection. What is it about democrats that make you feel they are evil?? As that’s quite strong.

Also just a quick bit of research and it seems Trumps “Opportunity Zones” has lots of unsubstantiated claims over the investments. Trump recently claimed they had spent $100 billion yet that has since been priced as a projection for 2028. And I’m not saying it was his intention (it was his intention 😉) but then tax breaks created for these opportunity zones have created a windfall for some of America’s wealthiest people.

I’m not sure how much Trump believes of anything he says - he’s always looking for a reaction, and everything he does is an attempt to play to his crowd. It’s all a game to him. He uses race to fan the flames of the underlying racial tensions that exist for his own cause. Redneck America, gun toting America, bible bashing middle America laps up all of his American superiority. Stick the boot in to Muslims, Mexicans and China - they love him even more. Stick the boot into liberals and progressive movements - more cheers. Suggest that the white people are under attack - audience cheer.
This is culture war based divide and rule politics pushed to it's limits. Trump has picked the side that was going to best serve his inner narcissist and has turned himself into the cartoon character he needed to be to see this through.

They are evil. They told police to stand down while they looted and trashed cities. People were getting assaulted and killed during this shit! There’s a 911 recording with a mother with her 5yr old in the car begging for help because she was being attacked and the dispatcher telling her there’s nothing she can do, that the mother should call city hall...also adding that she shouldn’t hit anyone with her car!! Imagine that’s your wife and child in that car!!! They’re scumbags!!
As for Opportunity Zones, I don’t know what you googled to find that info but I’ll tell you from first Gand experience ...I work for a major utility contractor in US. We have a project going on in Chester PA...you might be familiar with Chester since you know the Philly area. My company took advantage of the OZ bill and leased a construction yard. This whole notion that we need to bring rich people down to make things equal is bullshit. The whole goal is to bring poor people up!! Is my company making money from this deal? Absolutely! Is this guy we’re leasing from making more money than ever from this property? Absolutely!! And when others see what’s going on they won’t be hesitant to also bring their business there!! And guess what Democrats will do?? They’ll raise taxes, add regulations and soon they’ll force those people out!! Mark my words!

The economy is an evolving thing you know? The politicians can’t and don’t magic the current position over night. The conditions for more employment happens over time based on actions taken in the past.
Don’t fall for politicians of any flavour trying to take all of the credit (nor attribute all of the blame) for the state of the economy or major institutions at a moment in time. Change requires planning and time to see the results. I seem to remember Trump start patting himself on the back for the economy very soon after taking office. Tribal loyalties will will have some nodding in agreement whilst their leader claims credit for “America’s oak trees being more plentiful and established under xxxx’s government than any government in our history.“

Does it matter ? the real issue is/was the economy was booming before Covid-19 put a stop to everything. Crime including violent crime stats were down. You don't have to like trump that's your choice but it is what it is. and btw good luck if you think Joe Biden will do any better, he hasn't got a clue what day of the week it is, and even if he did he'd lie and say it wasn't...
