Birmingham City Finances

How though? A relatively small ground so ticket sales won't be as big as others. Admittedly I don't know loads about their off field operations but struggle to see how they're generating bags of revenue.
probably TV deals like amazon prime, do they owners have links in TV companies etc ?
Problem Wrexham have is apart from Calum Doyle, all of their big signings last summer are 27+ years old (they spent £33millionin total).

We went down the route of free transfers for experienced players, and paying smallish fees for young hungry, players who could develop (Cirkin, Ballard, Hume, Clarke, Bellingham, Mayenda, Isidor etc - this lot cost the same as they paid for Nathan Broadhead).
I'm sure they've also got a behind the scenes tv deal which will bring added American cash in..

Most championship clubs are operating with wages over 100% of their turnover.

The difference is Birmingham and Wrexham will bring in revenues the rest would love to have to offset that.

Birmingham have defs gone too far in their spend compared to Wrexham and gambled too heavily. Whether that will stabilise next year I guess you wait and see.
They do I agree but overspending just makes the loss bigger on a higher revenue. Bringing in the higher revenue whilst great and yes others would want it is wiped out by the spend and the fact it looks like it’s spent badly. Also think those figures will look even worse this season. The have a reported loss of 35m and also borrowed 55m. I see you mentioned the owner being ill and that’s part of a point I was gonna make, loads of the revenue looks like it’s basically the owners sponsoring stuff ( guess it’s not against the rules) but it spells massive trouble if they get bored or poorly like you mentioned. Also is the loss in the championship still 39 max over 3 seasons? How they going to get around that and I am not sure how true this is as I seen it on a tweet but it was a Birmingham fan who said it, the loans are to the owners at an interest rate of 11.9%. It screams trouble to me

They'll both have new managers taking pre season training.
Davis is absolutely doomed, the hollywood boys might give Parkie another season
Still wouldn't have either anywhere near favourites
Bubbles/Spuds etc will start heavy favourite
Burnley will be there about's
Your lot are on champions league form
Sheff Utd can't be that bad again
You'd fancy most off the promotion chasers, particularly Southampton

Neither will be able to spend at the rate they have this season

They were on about their new stadium bringing in £££s when (or ‘if’) it gets built. Because it’s multi purpose so would get the concerts / NFL.

But while they’re at St Andrews they can’t bring that sort of money in so it’s just dodgy sponsorships for now.

I’ve never had a strong opinion either way on Birmingham but they went on like a bunch of wankers saying they’re going to get double promotion so it’s funny that they’re sat in mid table.

Just proves if ever it were in any doubt that you can throw money about all you like, but unless you have the right people in charge of spending it with a proper plan, there’s absolutely no guarantees it will bring success. At the higher end of the scale, see also Man Utd over recent years.

Speakman did brilliant for us and latterly Ghisolfi has seemed to continue that trend.
Its what I've been saying for years. Its all about the plan & committing to it long term, and recruiting the right management *team*. Everything else works off that.

They need a proper plan as everything is hoying money at it. The manager is out of his depth massively and the dream sold to the fans is the new ground etc. The owners have underestimated how tough the championship is to get out of. All their “kick ass” bullshit, and inability to grasp how competitive the league is will come home to roost. More proper football people needed at the club, as their owners live in America. Dare I say it, they need a Regis Lebris type manager and a philosophy, otherwise they will throw more wasted money at it and fail.

Remember being told by a brum fan in Portugal that they had had our eyes out for Jobe and we wouldn’t turn a profit on him

Also mentioned some no mark that he said would be better than Jobe so were happy to let him go 🤣🤣🤣

Maybe Speakman will return if they make him an offer he can’t refuse. Got to be the best person to get them sorted.

Wrexham have grown an international fanbase and revenue, but have Birmingham really? Tom Brady showing his face every few months and a documentary that nobody watched doesn't strike me as driving that much revenue.

What it does highlight once again is how immaculately we've been ran since the owners came in. To achieve PL promotion with the net spend we had, to my mind, is one of the biggest footballing achievements in recent memory. It really is mind boggling when you look at what other teams are doing to try and make it to the PL.

It's a minor miracle. Still pinching myself to wake up from the dream.

When we were promoted under Keane we outspent rest of league on transfers, combined and god only knows what wages were
We then spent zillions in premier league ( mostly on dross like Chimbonda, Halford etc )
By the time the Irish jolly boys did a runner and the unfairly much maligned Short took the reins there was a 60m debt mountain ( thanks to what Roy Keane wants Roy Keane gets ) that he personally wrote off
Easy to point fingers at other clubs but he who is without sin etc
