Big trouble next season

We clearly identified that defensive organisation and high motivation were the way to stay up this season. Add some defensive quality and a sprinkling of creativity. The result? We stayed up. However a combination of the intensity (and resulting injuries) catching up with us and a dip in motivation (as we achieved what we set out to achieve) and it’s little wonder that we are stumbling now.

Next season will be different, hopefully better.

I’m not sure about some of RLB tactics but I’m sure some have see that we’ve exactly 7 players out that would have started today.
He can’t really do much more with what he had.

Whats killed both SAFC and EFC this season is the attacking positions.

You look at teams around us and they have finishers:

Brentford: Thiago
Bournemouth: Kroupi
Geordies: Gordon / Barnes
Brighton: Welbeck

Beto and Barry struggle to finish their dinners and Brobbey from what I've seen of him is more interested in tussling with the opposition CBs than getting into threatening areas.

Both clubs missed a trick on Strand Larsen in January. Think he'll have had either of us qualifying for Europe this season.

Unless RLB changes his ways and stops being so negative with his tactics or he is replaced with a more balanced coach I can see us being in both next season.

Fingers crossed Ghisolfi has some good players up his sleeve which I think he will. It is no coincidence this has happened in all of RLBs Jobs.

Why did we stop playing the way we did at the start of the championship season? The high pressing exciting football? Turned into turgid defensive minded football. He would much rather draw 0-0 then go for a game.

I think we have some good attacking options Talbi etc but I really do think they are being held back. Surely the players can not enjoy that style of play? Whatever happens hope we find a solution because at the moment it is not only horrendous to watch but it will only lead to one eventuality in the coming season
Love these wobbly-voiced reactionary posts that claim to be inciteful, but are actually just a cry-baby response to losing a game of football.

You'll be fine this season. I dare say next season too, which looks as though Coventry, Ipswich and let's assume one of Hull or Millwall come up.

However, playing devil's advocate here, but let's assume Wolves and Spurs come straight back up for the 2027/28 PL season.

You'd assume Spurs stay up so that's one fewer newly promoted team nailed on for relegation. Wolves will have the benefit of longer parachute payments given their current tenure in the PL, though will have gone through significant upheaval and clear-outs.

You'll have had 2 years in the Prem by that point, I dare say the summer 2027 transfer window is going to be pivotal.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Spurs struggle. Most of their prima donnas won't be able to get away quick enough, and they have zero experience of the Championship dogfight. I simply don't see the know-how there to assemble a squad to get out of it, no matter how much money they have

Forget next season and lets sort this season out cos from the first half of the season if we dont finish top 10 then i think its been a very very bad 2nd half to the season

We are currently 5 points if the European places and are limping along and not even bothered or that is the way it seems anyway

Le Bris will be away and Farioli will be the man leading the European charge.
For all we know, le bris role was always promotion and survive 1st season. Kld will have a list of the next phase manager. Le bris might want to gan back to france and be a family man - not exactly an easy job.

Yeah we'll make no signings over the summer to address our glaring weaknesses. Our ridiculously young premier league players won't get any better either.

Approach next season like the club approached this season and we'll have achieved our target of European qualification with ten games to go...

Given we are safe it’s a bit of a shame some of the younger players on the bench aren’t getting more minutes . Nothing to lose

What the fuck do you know !

The last few weeks have been a disappointment but people calling for Regis to be sacked need to give their head a shake. Managing and integrating 14 new players and staying up comfortably is an amazing achievement. We’ve also had to manage AFCON and loads of injuries.

I think our forward play has been poor largely because of the players. Isodar and Mayenda are nowhere near premier league level. Our wingers are poor. Talbi will come good but he’s too young and ineffective to start each week. Angolo looks meh so far but it’s earky days. Adringa and Mundle have offered nothing. Traore was awful then came good briefly then has been injured. Only Le Fee and Brobbey have been consistently good but they can’t do it alone. That isn’t on Regis. He’s a clever guy and he will know what we need to change next season.
This 100%. Excellent post

I disagree. The football we're currently playing is awful. We look absolutely clueless against a low block. We wont play through the middle. Of course the players out are a big miss but we shouldn't be blind to how clueless we currently look.
