Bid rejected for Clarke

I'm not sure if agents/players view it this way, but: If he goes to Palace (or similar) at the lower end of midtable and doesn't set the world alight/sits on the bench is that good in the long term? As opposed to staying here and dominating in the Championship as a key player at a club aiming for top two, I'd say it might be a less attractive option given where he's been and where he's hoping to go.

Another good showing in a promotion season (or close to it) for us will have bigger clubs taking note and he's still only be 22/23.
Bigger clubs aren't gonna want him until he's done well in the PL, that's why a move to a lower PL side might be in his interests.

I don't think that's true. There's a risk he'd sit on the bench most games at Palace which simply won't happen here, they'd also have paid a massive fee for him and would be unlikely to let him leave for anything less than an astronomical fee. He's better off long term spending one more year at least here imo.

Possibly, however I think that if a good offer is put in he'll want to go.
On the other hand we might well swap leagues with Palace next May.

Harte is a rare breed, an agent who actually carries some integrity. The one thing he is absolutely right in stating is that every player has his price….. if a bid of £20m is offered I believe sadly Clarke will be sold.
There’s no such thing as an agent with integrity.

Even if there was they wouldn’t last long. It’s a snake pit.

Can anyone tell me the point of selling our best players, even for a good price? Promotion is worth hundreds of millions so selling good players does not make any sense. If a player wants to leave then I'd consider selling to avoid disruption to team morale.
I agree, but I think it’s more to do with if he wants to go then go, as we cannot compete with the wages.

Zaha is going to leave Palace. They obviously see Clarke as his replacement.

I think Clarke would be wary of signing for a Premier team.
He was transfered from Leeds to Spurs for £10,000,000 and did not get a game for the 3 years he was there.

To be fair he was bought as a youngster with potential not a first team or squad player, it would be quite different this time.

Shit happens. He wont be wary at all...it's the biggest and best league in the world. He'd be off like a shot.
