I used to work in the Village Pork Shop opposite the Flying Boat as a teenager, their saveloys were shite but their beef dips were off the map, best I've had.

Loitering around on the saveloy thread aye?

Had a saveloy dip down the docks at Seaham few weeks back. Had to literally force it down my throat. Shudder.

That'll just be a saveloy sarnie then.
I was also bemused by this...

Faulkeners in Stanhope Road, South Shields do an absolute belter. In fact all of their stuff is tremendous. Dare I say it... their salads are excellent as well.

Ibbitsons/Dicksons in Houghton is the only place that still does proper ones imo. The rest just do massive piles of chopped processed meats in a bun.

Worst saveloy I ever had was from Hendersons on Roker Avenue.

Always have one from Dicksons if I'm over the town or Fulwell Pork shop (stans) on Sea Road.

Do you remember his Dad Kenny?

Worked in the shop many times and i always came out with a Massive wrap up of Steaks,Chops,Sausage,Bacon,Black Pudding,White Pudding etc etc

Loved The Shop Slogan

"We are pleased to meet you"
"We have meat to please you"
yeah used to live at downhill 40 years ago. his mam was working in shop till about a year ago

Ibbinsons used to be good, not sure if they still do them like as I've not had one for years..
