The thing is with Foakes is he gets to things or close to things that a lot of other keepers wouldn’t. So he might spill a leg side bye or a catch chance that Bairstow for example wouldn’t touch. That then can make Foakes look poor when in fact he has got much closer to stopping it than others.

Without even reading it he's played a massive part in wins under McCullum/Stokes.
Why I found the clamour to get Bairstow back at any costs daft. Jonny excelled batting 5 was and still nonsense to give him the gloves after the time he had off with injury. The chances he missed could well have changed the course of the Ashes if Foakes was behind the stumps.
However most peoples plans involved getting funky with order and dropping Crawley. So in hindsight that would have been daft.
