Not sure I completely agree with the point of view that he took them down so he must be shit

He averaged 1.3 points per game for the 10 games he was in charge of them in the premiership, to put that into perspective, that works out 49 points over a full season of 38 games, or 11th place. I know it doesn't work like that, but it was an obvious improvement from McClaren, of course he ultimately failed to keep them up, but does anyone really think that was Rafa's fault? They were shite long before Rafa took over

He's a quality manager who has won titles all over the world and I'd have him here in a heartbeat

He's spot on cos ah divvent undasthand .
 
He's done very little really, couldn't save them then probably had to get the big earners off the books and currently has a good Championship team, I think he'll get them up but it just starts again then, they'll need a massive investment to stay up next season.

It's rafa's fault they managed two points from Sunderland, Norwich and Aston Villa. The three most important fixtures in their run-in.
 
Hes a quality manager with a proven track record of doing well.

He took over the club at a very low point after the back to back ineptitude of Pardew, Carver and McClaren, the damage was done before he arrived and it took longer than the short time we had but changes were happening, hence the 6 game unbeaten run in the final 6 games of the season, sometimes it just doesn't work out in football, and this was one of those times, It's pretty typical on here to says its all his fault though of course the manager has to be accountable in some way, but in this instance I'd say he did his best but was brought in just a little too late.

We've got a good squad and hes doing well, funny though how now its a poor league when before we started the season we had the same people saying "he has no championship experience" and "its a tough league to get out of".

Yes its the championship but we are rebuilding under a manager with a proven track record of success, with a great coaching team. Most importantly has managed to bring together the fans with the club once again and has absolutely everyone pulling in the same direction, even Ashley & Charnley it seems for the moment are on board and are believed to be ready to spend some good money should we come back up, Rafa would not have signed the deal otherwise.

At the end of the day its Mike Ashley, things could still go tits up, but we've got the best manager we've had since Robson and things are looking up, I'd wager Rafa will have us doing well next season, should we achieve promotion, which is looking close to nailed on at the moment.

Conservative football has been a bit of a trademark of his, and IMO may have led to their downfall. Their fantastic sales during the summer may have been down to him (either way, I cannot imagine anyone at SAFC digging their heels in with a poker face and getting £55 million for two players). Championship sides do not have the firepower to take advantage of his conservative tactics, but by next season his players may be so well drilled at playing together that he will need to buy far less than most on here realise.

Then again, maybe Newcastle will be remembered as the team that tried their luck in the PL with a front 2 that was Palace's reserve striker and a nutjob that got sent off more than he scored.

I'm looking forward to when they need to punt them all on, as they're not good enough, and non of them want to go anywhere :lol: They'll probably all have promotion clauses in their contracts knowing them lot! :lol:

He's a very good manager and they will walk the league.
They haven't had a manager they liked or wanted since Keegan and they way they are going on about him is cringworthy, they are desperate for him to 'get them' .
You know when you're a teenager and your mate gets his 1st proper girlfriend and never shuts up about her, it's like that.

Totally agree mate this was where it was won and lost for all 3 teams Big Sam knew this and we took 4 from 6 which ultimately kept us up bearing in mind both our games were away
