BBC look north

Who Jeff Brown? 100% a big SAFC fan. Grew up on the north side and seen at home games. Won’t always be his decision how they report things.
MLF loves safc -just need to “ clock “his ties -sneaked those past the Mag hierarchy

On a serious note I think generally the regional TV news hasn’t been too bad. Problem is the print and online sports media up here who report for nationals. Barely any of them support us, pretty much all Mags who live on Tyneside.

Jeff Brown, I can guarantee is 100pc a Lads fan. He worked for me when I was editor of The Journal (he covered Durham cricket on the sports desk). Massive Sunderland fan.
And a lovely fella.
As is the great Chris Stewart -very good reporter back in the day

I have got to the stage where I don't watch local tv as it is mainly about Newcastle and when it is about Wearside more of the coverage is negative. It's quite ridiculous when you think that the region serves up to Berwick, down to York, and across the Pennines.

However, the regional devolution proposals will be out for public consultation around the end of this month (I think). This could be a final chance to influence the narrative by urging the regional base to be, for example, at Durham, Sunderland, Washington etc. All of these are more in the middle of our region. If it goes to Newcastle it can only further cement this intra-regional bias. I'll be making a comment, let's put it that way.

I mean, he drinks in the Harbour View before the match and wears a Sunderland scarf but some people still insist he's not a fan 🤣

the mag wankathon will be totally unbearable if they make it to the final of league cup
Win win bet marra
Get some money on them to win it ( I kna ) but if they do will soften the blow for you
If they dint hey ho

Do you mean the football coverage is all Newcastle or in terms of general news?

Well said mate. Never a truer word uttered.

In my opinion there are more news items about Newcastle, especially the ‘good news‘ items. There are also more vox pops, for example on Northumberland Street. Sunderland gets a share, albeit smaller, and I don’t think it is as rosy a picture. Just my perception. If you live in somewhere like Murton or Stanley you never seem to be on.

The football coverage follows the same pattern, and if there’s a heartwarming story re nufc to be had, we will see it.
