Batth to Norwich ** confirmed **

Decent proper centre half, did the job we needed last season made us solider and helped Ballard come on. Not what we need going forward. One thing I will say, if he’d been available in playoff games I don’t think we would concede all those sloppy goals against Luton.

I’m happy with our business this window but there is no sugar coating this for me, I think it’s a really poor decision by the club. Guess we’ll have to see if I’m proven wrong and I hope I am but just feels daft.

I get the impression he must have wanted to go and we wanted him out too so I do wonder what happened there.

Or any central defender taller than Goochy.

Looks like the right choice to move away from Batth so far imo.m if we are going all in on this style.

We look more fluid in possession with obien overlapping hume on the right at times and creating overloads. O'niens passing stats are ridiculously higher than Batths aswell iirc

Absolutely agree. What also struck me last night in the post match interview was O’9s tactical awareness.

In the absence of much experience in the team, we need older players who can adjust things on the pitch. He’s a bright lad and is patently a really good on-field captain.

Wasn’t my player of the season , xcentre halves that can’t pass the ball forwards are a thing of the past. Our passing game isn’t for Baaath . Served his purpose now we move on .
Did you state this anywhere last season? Please direct me to it or are you one of the sheep dissing Batth for no genuine reason, he did well for us and we should have kept him. If Ballard gets injured we may have a problem. He was also a model pro around the club.

I was certainly in favour of keeping Batth but he wouldn't fit this style we play at all now.

He wouldn't simply slot in for Ballard as we'd have to adjust the way we build attacks as he'd need extra cover around him.

I see why he's been deemed surplus

Despite all the successes of the recruitment the last 2 seasons, Luke O’Nien is the best signing we’ve made since we were relegated from the PL IMO. Developed into a proper leader, great understanding and reading of the game and a good range of passing. Completely unrecognisable from the young lad who was hauled off at half time against Charlton.

He’s got a big future on TV when he retires as well, I fully expect him to be one of the main Sky Sports EFL pundits. Was excellent after the game while waiting for Clarke to collect his MOTM award.

Batth played a great long pass to Clarke to set up our play off goal at Shef Wed.

I’m not slagging batth off but to keep him, what centre half would you have sold?

Hmm I hope I am proved wrong, but I reckon Batth and Ballard would have been ourbest CB pairing, 09 in the holding DM spot allows Dan to play further forward.
