Back four

Aye that's them.

But I'd be disappointed if they don't sign another striker as backup.

Some other big fella would be good. Preferably someone decent in the air who can help see out games.

It's fantastic like. As great as O Nien has been, as soon as Ballard is fit, it's back to the bench for him
I would agree Ballard is back in if 100% fit.

However, Luke O’Nien has now had 3 Premier League starts. He has played a full game in all of them and we have conceded 1 goal, for which he was admittedly at fault.

Oh - and we have won all 3 games.😉

I say keep him on next season.

Really need to see it as a defensive group. Modern game is all about the squad. Add 09, Cirkin, Hume, Gerty to that list and we got something truly outstanding.

Early 50's Fraser Hedley McDonald Anderson Daniel Aitken
60's Monty Irwin Ashurst Harvey/Todd Hurley McNab
Early 80's Turner Venison Pickering Bennett Chisholm Elliott
Late 90's Sorensen Makin Gray Ball Craddock Butler
Mid 2010's Manone Bardsley Alonso Cattermole Brown O'Shea
Now Roefs Mukiele Reinildo Xhaka Ballard Alderete

I don't know pre war but this defensive unit is the best since the war and there's been some good ones.

Mukiele Ballard Alderete Reinildo

The best in my lifetime (I'm 48)
Anyone disagree or has any older fans seen a better back four?
Hume Getty O9 Cirkin would be right up there too!

How many times have the first choice guys started together?

Out of all the defenders we've had that I've seen, I think only John Mensah would have a chance of getting in ahead of Ballard in that back four. Evans and Bould were class but Alderete loves the physical battle more than those two. Mukiele and Reinildo are well clear at full back.

How many times has that back 4 actually played together?

Mags at home is a definite!
