the team has little belief. when we have been on top the aussies have countered and we have wilted. to win test matches and test series you need to win sessions and if you lose one you need to make sure you win the next one and the one after that. that's what the aussies have done, when we have got on top they've quickly turned that around to regain the ascendency.
it's just like the good old days of the 90's. ho hum...
Boycs said exactly the same thing about Tremlett given that he is nowhere near the bowler of 3years ago.Makes the Onions omission even more bizarre. Not for me, Bresnan gets a game because he can bat a bit. He's bowled 80mph half trackers man. The conditions will miraculously become bowler friendly in the next innings. So tell me why Finn and Rankin went on tour?
Despite the series defeats we were never this inept in the 90s. 1997 Ashes we won two tests, 1998-9 away series we won a memorable victory in the fourth test when Headley and Gough skittled the Aussies chasing 150, we won the final test in 1993. We still managed the odd 400+ innings in between batting collapses and the players showed fight. This series looks just like 2006-7 for me, a cock sure side turning up an expecting to 'just win'.
I feel sorry for all the lads that have spent their hard earned cash to go across there to support this shower of shite !!!![DOUBLEPOST=1387012022][/DOUBLEPOST]Shot Stokesy lad![]()

Scores from bell and stokes and the tail actually learning how to defend and we could sneak a lead
I'm a born optimist
With our record at Perth, and the state of the series, a draw would be good. Just bat on and on, and if it's at 2 per over so what? Let their bowlers do some toil in the field instead of ours for once.I can' think of anything where we've been better than them. Fielding, batting, bowling-second best in all. Today was the first time we actually batted sensibly but the attack choked us anyway, can't win a match scoring about two an over. We're being comprehensively done over to a degree that neither side has since 2007.
Agreed. Root had a ridiculously bad stroke of luck to get out the way he did, Cook and Carberry gave us a reasonable platform to work from and Bell and Stokes are capable of putting a partnership together. Despite slowing down later in the day, we had a much better approach to our innings today and if we can turn that into getting on level terms or even a small first innings lead, we're right in the game. The Aussies will feel the pressure if it looks like we could get back in the series as they'll want the urn wrapped up as soon as possible. We're in a better position than the Aussies were with 5 down and we do have a line up that bat's deep, well in theory at least! We are due a really good day, if we can get it tonight we can finally make a game of it at least. We need Bell to get a 100 or 3 players get 50's and we'll get up with the Aussies score. Bell and Prior have 50's this series and Bresnan should have been practising his batting a lot whilst he was out injured.
I'm quietly confident![]()
