We are due a really good day, if we can get it tonight we can finally make a game of it at least. We need Bell to get a 100 or 3 players get 50's and we'll get up with the Aussies score. Bell and Prior have 50's this series and Bresnan should have been practising his batting a lot whilst he was out injured.

Yes, but there's a crucial difference. When their lower order has come in they've been facing a ball that's 40 overs old and doing nowt, the new ball due about 40 minutes into tomorrows play.

I've been getting up at 5.00am and watching two sessions, please please please still be batting when my alarm goes off.....

I see what you're saying but there's still a couple of things in our favour. The new ball hasn't really taken a lot of wickets at Perth but it has been good for quick runs. The Aussies got off to a reasonable start bar a run out and we hardly got a clatter of wickets with the 2nd new ball. We got past 80 ourselves so Cook and Carberry saw off the new ball admittedly with a couple of near misses.
 
Biggest day of the series so far coming up. Without stating the absolute obvious!

We have to bat for a minimum of two sessions. Simple as that. If we do, then at worst we'll trail by 40-50 or so, which might just be enough to put some pressure on Aussie in the third innings.

Ideally we'll get a centurion. Sensible money would be on Bell of course but somebody needs to stand up and deliver.

Thirdly, as Carberry related to - the tail needs to wag. I reckon that if we can get another 100 or so before the 6th wicket goes down, meaning the deficit will be down to double figures, that may just give the likes of Bresnan, Broad and Swann license to throw the bat a bit like their tail did. It's a damn site easier doing that when you're not trailing by loads or batting to avoid the follow-on - like in the first two tests.
