Australia v England, 3rd Test, 16th December , 23.30

looks like we'll break the record for losing an ashes series in the fewest days, currently set at 11, tomorrow is day 9 of this series i think?

On a positive note, more beaches and golf before Melbourne and when do the wives etc arrive for their much needed holibobs?

Nasser will be gutted, he genuinely wants to keep the record from his video blogs with Athers

Right Ben, we need 3 runs to avoid the follow, got 90 minutes left in the day.

Do you start hitting out or play for the Red inker
Any chance Mccullum can pull a Swann and pack it in and fly home after this test
Anybody catch the stat that in the last 45 innings we've been bowled out in under 60 overs 22 times (could be 23 here)

2017-2022 was 65 innings and 23 times

2007-2017 was something like 126 innings for 22 times
Follow on avoided, we get to bowl tonight

It was what we needed for the first two years.

But the last 18 months has been one poor selection after another, Bethell could have been inspired but they let him go IPL then didn't select him.

I agree it was a refreshing approach, but we are right back to where we were before Baz came in.
At the end of the day there is no real motivation to work on red ball cricket, I suspect it loses money.
Players look at what you can earn in the IPL etc, compared to earning around 35k a year playing county.
It has killed West Indian red ball cricket as well.

It's amazing how we're right back to where we were last series down under.

Except this time,we now have no spinner and are missing 2 of our greatest ever bowlers.

Jacks is the least of our worries. Fingers need pointing at the more senior players. Absolutely disgusting time and time again. Pope has over 60 test caps for example

Duckett
Sibley
Stokes
Root
Brook
Rew WK
Ahmed
Dawson
Curran
Atkinson
Archer

Cox, Bethell, Smith, Tongue, Potts
Aussie commentary team just reminding everyone what a really good pitch this is to bat on... yeah, just rub it in why don't ya
Pitch has exploded from Lyon which you wouldn't expect on a day 2 pitch mind

Don't worry, I think every England fan is right there with you on Pope
That side would also be decimated here.
It would right now, but this Aussie attack will not be around in 2 years.
People like to mock one Test wonders like Ian Blackwell, but that lad in his day was ten times the cricketer Will Jacks will ever be.
Think he batted all right. Panesar made his debut alongside Cook and Chef got a 100 on debut with Monty bowling superb.

Follow on was never going to happen in these conditions anyway, Aussie bowlers will have a drink and an ice bath and put their feet up for a day.

We’ve got one of the best keepers in the world sat at home in favour of a batsman who can keep a bit.

We’re playing a batsman who can bowl a bit instead of picking a frontline spinner.

And that’s before you get to the repeated selections of dross like Crawley and Pope.

Indeed. The batting lineup apart from Root and Stokes has been fragile for years but they were covered by Jimmy and Broad.

The current bowling lineup just doesn't put any fear into the opposition.
