Australia v England, 2nd Test, 4th December 0400

He has a technique issue imo, gets away with it more when he bats lower but its highlighted at 3

I think he bats confused. He’s a classical technically gifted batsman that has been promoted to 3 too hastily and with a license to play a game that doesn’t belong to him.

Yes he’s making the mistakes and isn’t showing much growing maturity, but I think his ability isn’t being utilised anything like properly.

Hes too good a player to be wasting his career the way he is. And he needs better help and needs to be more accountable. It doesn’t appear to be a system where there is any real accountability anywhere.

I just feel he has a bit of trigger movement issue. Ends up playing at a line that is dangerous when youre essentially facing the new ball

We haven’t beaten India or Australia since 2018
We rarely beat Australia by a 3+ gap, the way they regularly stuff us in Australia. Best since ive really been alive and interested in cricket was a 3 - 0 home win over a decade ago after the 3 - 1 away win we had. Australia have won by that gap or more 8 times since i was born in 1990, and 3 times since we did win 3 - 0

Aside from being trounced, there’s a fundamental issue with the entire approach.

It was designed to entertain and make people like watching England cricket. They’re seen as arrogant, cocky and self aggrandising by opponents and not stirring a sense of pride or love from people at home either. That’s an uncomfortable problem.

I think the press will turn on them in a fashion we’ve not seen before and it won’t be nice but it won’t be without warning

Next coach has to be one who installs discipline and valuing your wicket, Ponting would be ideal but I think he's pretty adamant he doesn't want to coach international teams, so maybe a Justin Langer type
