Even if it popped up nicely in teh second over he should know better than to chase them when he hasn't got his eye in.
Disagree.
You need to play your natural game and if you play the short ball normally then you should. If not you scramble your mind where you don't know what to play and what to leave

Don't get me wrong, was a crap shot. But we castigate the others for block block block and building up pressure

Gonna have to disagree then Chunky. I think it was daft to go after it so early when he's struggled for so long... Should've played himself into the innings, taken his time and got his eye in against Johnson. Carbury has shown him how to do it easily and I'm confident that if Cook gave himself that time to get in he'd get a decent score on the board.

Agree about "block, block, block" comment, but early on in an innings as an opener and one of the batsmen who is proven to be able to hang around, he shouldn't be giving his wicket away so poorly.

All about opinions mate

The Carberry shot was a horror anarl

Players are criticised for going into their shell and showing no intent

When they execute intent badly they are then criticised

Poor mites. I blame the fans.

Or all round poor shot selection[DOUBLEPOST=1386526305][/DOUBLEPOST]
When we're on top
Petersen has turned in plenty of match winning performances, Mumbai off the top of my head. Every single one of our batsmen looks poor this series, which I can only attribute to poor coaching and low confidence.

The biggest of the lot, 150 at The Oval to draw the game and win The Ashes in 2005.

Broad and Prior get centuries, Johnson goes to pieces, Monty Panesar hits the winning runs, England win in the greatest comeback in test history.*

*This could be the red wine typing.

He seems to think every games a 20/20

If his defensive side was better hed be a much better player

if his defensive side was better he'd be one of the best players ever. his attacking cricket is better than anyone in world cricket.

about this match, we have shown signs of recovery but whilst we have been blown away it is perhaps worth remembering that if a few of our simple chances hadn't been put down and their great catches hadn't been taken this match would have been alot more even. cook in this innings but especially carberry were very decent catches..

The odds on this match have been astonishing btw.

I went to bed last night just as Carberry got out. The odds for England to WIN were 32/1 beforehand. This would be a world record by ~100 runs. So obviously layed it. And the it moved to 80/1 so backed

Woke up at 3am and they were 2 down, England were 13/1 to win. 13/1 ffs at 150/2 ish chasing 530

Closed out and more at them prices

there is also the possibility that even if the rain stops bad light may either prevent play or stop the likes of johnson bowling...

mind you steve smith picked up bell yesterday with a f***ing shocker...!
