Absolutely chuffed to bits for Stokes. The next Botham or Flintoff, depending on how much he wants it.

Right then Big Ben, crack some Aussie skulls.

On the BBC live commentary -

"As Ben Stokes proudly pulls on his England cap, it's worth reminding ourselves that gritty, flame-haired batting all-rounders from Durham have a decent track record at this ground. If Stokes gets even half Paul Collingwood's 206 here seven years ago, his selection will have paid off perfectly."

Fair point

Depends what the score is.

if the score is 400-3 and stokes got the to

  1. Not surprised Stokes is playing. Thought we might have given Ballance a go given how bad Johnson's bowling is to left-handers. Stokes is more of a risk than Bresnan, which is unlike England. Usually we take the safest option!

good thing stokes is left handed then, bat wise anyway...[DOUBLEPOST=1386199622][/DOUBLEPOST]
Not really, they might just think Perth's a better one for him.

if we really have picked panesar over bresnan then i take my hat off to the team.. whilst i think its the wrong move it is a positive move and i applaud them for that, doens't happen nearly often enough.

gerrin, early action for stokes in a good way, rather than a bad way :lol:

despite being a batting allrounder [do we still consider him a batting all rounder? maybe just] i'm much happier with him getting a chance to field and have a bowl first rather than have him go out and bat, especially if its sooner than anticipated...[DOUBLEPOST=1386200154][/DOUBLEPOST]ouch, cook sounds rattled already :lol:

What are the teams I'm catching up with motd on iplayer.

Great news for stokes hope he twats them round the park with the bat and takes a fifer with the ball.

Hmm root at 3 going to need a big performance from him me thinks.

We went with 2 spinners at adelaide last time did we not. Can't recall if it's a turning wicket, not really been paying close attention to cricket with this break.
