Also am I reading it correctly that you need to have had a purchase history prior to beginning of April to buy a match day ticket for Saturday?

Purchase history didn't work for me, someone at the ticket office had to change the permissions.
I'd be willing to bet that quite a few just gave up in frustration.
They've put the security barriers up big time for no reason

They replied by email for me telling me that they'd updated my permissions.
I can see that your problem is different but, shouldn't really be any more complicated.
Son rang the ticket line when he wa strying to arrange one for me but, said he, "got some young lass from TicketMaster who seemed a bit clueless", that was why he was going to go down to the ticket office in person.
