Attendance Thread - Blackburn Rovers

Kicking into the South Stand and the timing of it made the difference IMO

That is outstanding.
Who said the Christmas Spirit is dead?
Why would that affect the crowd noise?

Penalties are rarely celebrated in the same way open play goals are. Especially last minute winners.

For anyone thinking that half had left the ground at 90mins-this will address that ….
I stumbled on you tube a video from the north west corner -Hoppers Guide Sunderland v Blackburn rovers and the Simms goal ( I’m owld so née idea how to link or if it’s been posted already ) but it shows the ground which is still very full and goes nuts -the roar is tremendous!
Well worth 1 minute of any safc fans time to see it from a “unique “ angle ! Dispels any of the “ fans “ saying there’s née one left !! The noise !!

Nice work for the original spot , and also to @SAFCOldie for finding it. We were in the East stand.
I said to my son before it was taken , here we go , a set piece , let’s hope we leave a few back to defend the kick in the teeth 😕
He said don’t be daft , we score here.
What do I know eh

Whoever took it really captured the moment !!
Great day

Kicking into the home end either chasing a equaliser or a winner is going to get the fans, and more importantly, the players to respond.
How many times do you hear the players say the crowd gives them that extra lift.
How many times do you see the players egging the supporters on.
The North Stand was the home end but no longer.

They are kicking towards the home end whichever way they are facing mate.

When the stadium opened the North Stand was nominated the home end.
That is why the dug outs are on the North Side, that is why the changing rooms are on the North side, that is why the players run to that end at the beginning of a game.
The heart of the North Stand was destroyed when they took the back rows for the Black Cat Bar.
The players are kicking toward home and away fans when they kick toward the North End now, or have you not noticed.

I've had a season ticket in the North stand since the day it opened. It's a home end just like every other side of the ground. Our last minute winner had nowt to do with kicking towards the south stand. It's that simple really.

Only for a few more months. Seems likely that the away fans will be at the south end of the ground again next season - probably in the SE corner.

Agreed. We’re in the North stand as well. Looking back at all the lte goals from the last year - Broadhead v Shrews, Stewar v Burton etc, I haven’t once walked away from the ground thinking “we scored that goal because we were attacking the North Stand”. One late goal at the other end, and “it’s the fans that done it”.

I've never once thought that i'm not sitting in part of the home end either come to think of it.

I sat in the North Stand till I was ousted in favour of the BCB and preferred to call it the home end, now I call it the dead end.
I now sit/stand in South Stand where there is a home end atmosphere.
The players will tell you themselves they respond to a atmosphere.

Have any players been quoted as saying this had any impact?
