Aston Villa Splashing the Cash

You've just had a huge increase in TV income, and you've blown at all at once, just on fees. You haven't paid a penny of the extra wages you've just committed to. You only get that increase once. You're perilously close to breaching FFP anyway. You won't be able to repeat this trick next season, even if you stay up. And if you do a Fulham, you're essentially fucked. And all to get your arses tanned more often than not. When are people finally going to cotton on to how rigged and broken the PL is as a sporting competition?

FFP is sorted. Not a worry. The man basically behind the FFP is employed at AVFC. There's not a chance this will bite us in the arse.
Secondly our owners are pretty filthy rich. They can drop money into the club on command, and they have ambitions. Spending will happen whatever happens next season.
Thirdly all players that are signed have a decent resale value. The days of old cloggers on high wages are over. We are finally run very well from the top which makes a huge difference.

Where've we heard this before?

That's what we though ten years ago. And you only got round FFP by a very dodgy once only sale and leaseback of Villa Park.

You have no clue.

So far we've lost, released and sold (not counting youths):

McCormack
Jedinak
Tuanzebe
Richards
Hutton
Adomah
Whelan
El Ghazi
Bunn
Hause
Gardner
De Laet
Elphick
Abraham
Mings
And Chester is likely done as a footballer so that's another one.

2-3 players. haha.
Yes but that’s a ridiculous turn over of players. Clearly you’re too stupid to understand the point. You shouldn’t have to get rid of that many players and get so many in. Yous will struggle this year.

Randy Lerner had ambitions, the problems arise when they get bored.

Could be another Fulham, could be another Wolves.
My guess would be more likely to be another Fulham.
If the ones they're bringing in are on a fair bit and don't have relegation wage drops and/or release clauses written into their contracts, Villa could be in some serious trouble should they go down

As much as they might do a Fulham, there is as much chance they might do a Wolves. They'll probably wind up somewhere in the middle. For all the laughing at the Mings and El Ghazi fees, at least they know those players fit their system and club already. It's not like Fulham dropping those types of fees on talented players without any discernible plan (or defenders!).

The PL has just scrapped short term cost controls so all they need to satisfy is the profit and sustainability rules. It's hardly a high bar.

They have some of the richest owners in the country and the latent support of Villa is huge. It shouldn't be too hard to run a stable and sustainable PL Villa assuming this spree is a one off. It seems a better bet than the otherwise near certainty of the 5th best team in the Championship going straight back down then having to deal with the EFL suits at least.

But that's what not you said. You said we should have bought in 2-3 players when we lost way more than that from loans ending alone.
As for calling me stupid, pot kettle.

Its pretty much a loan

No it's not. Unless you're talking about a loan where you have to pay double triple the amount to get your player back. Which in that case isn't a loan.

Yes but if you didn’t have such a shit squad that you had to peddle so many you wouldn’t be about to embark on a season of disappointment with all these new players who will likely fail.

We did have a poor squad. I agree. Nobody actually thought we would get promoted this year, which is why the rebuilding job this summer got so massive.

Some might fail, some might not. Either way it's the only choice we had. Having a problem with us signing a bunch of players seems rather ridiculous when the alternative is that we could hardly field a first eleven.

In the situation you’re in you had to but the point I’ve clearly made is your club should never have let you get in this position. Because of that you’ll struggle this season.
