Around 90,000 possibly more for league 1

Wrexham in the fifth tier are drawing 9000.
York for a sixth tier play off game SF had their biggest crowd for 15 years.
Bradford below mid table in the old Fourth Division are averaging over 15000.
Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Man City , Man Utd , Newcastle, Everton and Liverpool would average 30000 at least in League One.
Our support is fantastic but we are not the only ones.
Wrexham think they are doing well and feeling positive - fans of those “big” clubs in the Epl would be thoroughly depressed to be in league one so there’s a difference

There’s a fair few come out the woodwork for this one
Went to both the last trips , Portsmouth & Charlton
We never sold out for Charlton

The 2019 season you could expect lower turnout, we’d not been to Wembley in ages so loads went to the cup final and then subsequently couldn’t afford the playoff final.

Two trips to Wembley is a massive expense for a lot of people, I was one of those unfortunately.

When you consider our home support for the semi final and our support at Wembley for the final it's actually mind blowing that any club would get anywhere near this amount of people attending 2 games in league 1

Take in the fact that it's a 5/6 hour journey to London and very expensive our support is phenomenal absolutely phenomenal and second to f***ing non
Whey man am.tertally gobsmacked!
Howay!

I think you are massive over stating the amount. But also every single club with a big ground gives free tickets to schools and shit.
It's a good thing giving tickets to kids in the local community
They were given to schools, you must have a short memory if you cant remember huge blocks of kids in the ground in the early to mid 2000's. Can't recall if it was Short or Drumaville who put the block on it. The Mags feasted out on it for years before handing 10000 free season tickets out themselves. Of course it wasn't publicised by Murray but anyone connected with ticketing at the club at the time would verify it. My wife was at Sunderland Uni at the time and they got tickets for a fiver, they offered them out to all the students at that price.
They still give away some or at least for a fiver. School where I work definitely got some pre pandemic through the foundation, who also come in and do some pe lessons each week.

Both trips cost me closer to 500 than 200, how can you get return travel from Sunderland to London, a Wembley ticket and even just some food and drink for less than £200? Add in the cheapest stop over for most people who don’t drive?

How much is it costing you?
I've managed to do this trip for £87.00 m8 but that's doing it in a day

Of course I remember blocks of kids, I was one of them! Half my year at school had season cards in the NE corner for years after the SoL first opened.

I’m not staying there wouldn’t have been any tickets handed over for community causes (like all clubs) but 5k is definitely over egging it.

We had far more kids and lasses attending the SoL because football became more accessible, with better facilities and fashionable again in the late 90s.

You just have to look at our historical attendances to back up my first comment IF we were competing at the top / Europe for a sustained period, the SoL would need to be considered for extension.
No way 5000 free tickets at a match .

Increased attendances will also be a function of Covid. People spending a year inside now taking the opportunity to socialise and shout.

Let's not forget we were regularly handing out 5000 free tickets, an inconsiderate truth. I'd say our support now is on a much higher level which is bizarre after the shite we've endured. The support is actually becoming more ardent in adversity, true support not glory seekers.
It's true, we get more in L1 than in the Champo under MicMac and Grayson/Coleman. These attendances are about what we had going up with Keane.

He's a mag mate if you read his posting history every time our support is mentioned on a thread he's quickly on saying how other clubs are great and it's not just us

He's a very bitter man
I am a realist.
I love my club.
Roll on Wembley
Every club has great supporters.
Regardless of numbers.

So you already paid for everything you’re going to eat and drink on the day? And your tube? Not drinking or eating in Wembley?
No m8 , just saying I got ticket and travel for 87 doing it over a day , not a big drinker tbh so breakfast dinner couple pints. Coach takes us to Wembley 2 hrs before match leaves 30 mins after k/o so not much time to spend money, I just want to go see the match and enjoy the atmosphere

The highest kevel to me is the top flight, it goes without saying we would sell out if we were in the Champions league, we can average 31000 in the third tier but we ain't going to be in the champions league anytime soon.
Well you say that but won’t the same rule apply to playing every 3 days to the Charlton play off. Fans won’t be able to afford it and crowds will be suppressed. Unless Boris’s levelling up brings new wealth beyond imagination
