I'm not normally one to start threads about how great our fanbase is but it really annoys me that it doesn't get the national recognition it deserves

There's only a handful of clubs who would get the support we do. Could you imagine if Leeds, wolves Newcastle, Everton averaged 32000 after 4 seasons in league 1 and got 45000 for a league 1 play off and then took 45000 to London.

It would be all over the media

Well Leeds and Man City didn’t manage to continue pulling in what we have since being down here.

The mags wouldn’t do it either, they folded like a pack of cards under Ashley despite being a lower half PL / top of the championship side.

Will our ticket sales be the largest attendance by a single team for a competitive match (other than International games)? Presumably more often than not the split will be close to 50/50?

When have we been challenging for the league title on a regular basis or Europe? Must have completely missed that.

The SoL was correctly extended to meet the demand under Reid’s 7th place finishes. Unfortunately it fell to shit on the pitch.
Let's not forget we were regularly handing out 5000 free tickets, an inconsiderate truth. I'd say our support now is on a much higher level which is bizarre after the shite we've endured. The support is actually becoming more ardent in adversity, true support not glory seekers.

Despite being around in those years i never ever had a free ticket come my way, don’t know anybody that did either. Good luck to those that got them though.

The very positive thing for me is the vast majority of folk have moved on from the covids. It was only a few months back masks, covid passes and the threat of another lockdown etc, a whole group of youngsters totally missed out for a year or so. We are back on track, it's great to see.

So in 00-01 season we averaged just under 47k are you saying 5k of that was free tickets for school?

Having just left school in South Tyneside, me and my mates all had season cards. In fact can’t name one person I knew who got a free ticket??
Same area, same time. Neither seen these free tickets, just our luck eh?
