Are the experts calling it?

No idea. RLB got asked that same question post match and said the magic number is 40 but said he wouldnt be surprised if it’s more than 40 this season. At the minute West Ham, Forest and Leeds all seem really competitive, hopefully they burn out.
Out of interest, what else could he say? “Yes, we set a target of 40 points at the start of the season, but it now looks like we already have enough, so I’ll have the lads smoking tabs and drinking Frosty Jack rather than training for the rest of the season.”

We will finish somewhere between 7th and 12th. Would be lovely to finish in the top half. No reason why we cant do the same in future seasons either under the current regime.

We'd need a monumental collapse now to go down. There were some jitters after recent results, but that convincing win hopefully instills some more confidence in our lot, and stops other teams from sensing weakness and smelling blood when they play us.

We have a tough run though, pretty much all our home games left are against top half teams, only Forest and Brighton (who are barely bottom half) left as the "easier" games. We need to grab some points on the road if we want to push on, because I can see a few defeats at home on the horizon.

And tottenham.

If youre counting Fulham as a top half team (which you should be) then spurs are a bottom half team

Before the Burnley game I put the league table and remaining fixtures into AI (I know) and asked for a Monte Carlo style prediction of where we would finish, and specifically the chances of being relegated.
It ran PPG, current form and biassed (boosting the teams fighting for relegation) simulations.
Not even in the worst case scanario of losing to all teams below us, failing to beat top sides and going on 4-5 games losing streaks did it have us in the bottom 3

Means FA in real life but it was fun to do. FWIW it had us finishing 8th

Yes i am that expert called it a month ago🤣

There’s literally no evidence to support this. West Ham have slightly less points than the average team who finish 18th have after 24 games, and the average at the end of the season for 18th is about 36 points. They have won 5 games all season - Forest (when Forest were a total car crash under Nuno at the start of the season), Burnley (a game in which they were outplayed and should have lost), Visitors (who didn’t turn up), Spurs (with a last minute winner in a game Spurs should have won), and Sunderland (who didn’t turn up). It’s mostly West Ham around here, and not a single one of them thinks that they are anything other than shit and going down.
I dunno… all 3 of those sides seem better than they were earlier in the season. You can say ‘didn’t turn up’ about most teams when they lose, but part of not turning up is the other team stopping you from turnIng up. Bowen and Somerville were class against us. I think they’ll all accrue more points second half of season than first, and that’ll make for an interesting finish.
