Are the experts calling it?

Research shows that General Election Polls are shite as they’re statistically too small a % of the overall population and voters lie about their voting intentions, whereas it’s statistically proven that an average of 1 point per game will almost certainly keep you from being relegated from the Premier League. So 2 more points and we can start beating teams for fun.

I’ll be interested at the end of the season to know what date we were safe. Not that it makes any difference but I’ll be curious at what point in the season we had enough points that would have kept us up.

We're still discussing relegation, eh?
Ha'way man! We have a top half of the table squad now, and our talented HC is young and still learning the craft. He will keep improving.

We're not going down, have some faith in the lads, ffs!
If I have any worries about SAFC, it's will we be able to keep it up next season? I'm not even going to think about that right now, though. I just want to enjoy the moment. We'll be playing PL football next season, the pressure is off.

I dunno… all 3 of those sides seem better than they were earlier in the season. You can say ‘didn’t turn up’ about most teams when they lose, but part of not turning up is the other team stopping you from turnIng up. Bowen and Somerville were class against us. I think they’ll all accrue more points second half of season than first, and that’ll make for an interesting finish.
Well, West Ham got 11 points from their first 12 games, and 9 points from their last 12 games. So the data wouldn’t suggest that they are better than they were earlier in the season 🤷‍♂️

Does feel like those 3 have all improved but can’t really argue with that!

Except to say I still think they’re better now than they were, even if the points don’t reflect it yet. I predict them to get more points in the final third of the season than either first or second.

Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. One thing is for sure, they have an absolute monster must win game on Saturday. By the time they kick off at Burnley, they will be either 6 points behind 17th and at least 9 points behind everyone else…. or 7 points behind 17th. If they don’t beat Burnley then any confidence they picked up from beating us will have gone.

To be honest, it’s a bit of a moot point now. If we go down from here, then it will be the biggest collapse in football history (and it ain’t happening), so I’m no longer too fussed about who does what at the bottom (other than I’d prefer West Ham to go down than Leeds or Forest).

42 points.

6 more to go

this was a good read - in summary the answer was 36.

"In the 20-team era, starting from the 1995-96 season, the average number of points needed for survival, or the number of points the 18th-placed team finished plus one, is 35.53 - rounded up to 36 points."

West Ham once went down on 42, as did we on 40 as well as Bolton on 40.

Maths is great. We need 42 points before I stop wetting the bed
Leeds roped in would be the icing on the cake.
I mean... are the Mags truly out of it yet?...

If Wolves win all their 8 remaining games (why the hell not) they'll end up on 40 points.

They probably won't do it, but they have four 6 pointers to cause a bit of havoc 😱

West Ham
Leeds
Spurs
Burnley
