From BBC Sport.

Sunderland sign Kosovo international defender Arbenit Xhemajli on a two-year deal after a successful pre-season trial.

Arrr-benit Xhemajili push Flanagan out the team
Arrr-benit Xhemajili push up front out the back 3
To the left to the right jump up and down, slide on your knees
Snuff out the chance every game, play like a huge Phil Bardlsey.

It's not clear how fixed term contracts fit into that. To be certain, he'd need to apply for settled status.
Footballers always get different rules to normal people. Its not like a Kosovan cleaner gets the same rights as a Kosovan footballer. I'm sure they'll come up with an amendment to the current system and being registered to a club before we leave automatically gives you your four points. Admittedly so the big clubs aren't affected but we'll benefit from it.
paid a 6 figure compo settlement....really surprised at that mind...
Yeah I'm surprised too as you shouldnt need to pay compensation when signing u23 bosman players from Europe. That was the issue we had with Maja, if he went to an English club we'd get compensation but if he went abroad we'd get nothing.

I've no idea what the lad is like but its the type of signing we should have made more of. Young, hungry, eager to improve with his entire career ahead of him and someone we can develop into a player that either outgrows us and we make a profit on or gets us higher up the leagues.

The best thing about this signing however (if its deliberate) is that he's clearly been signed to suit our system. I dont think its an accident he's been used as a left sided centre back in a back three. Thats really good scouting, should hopefully slot straight in.
