I prefer it this way. If you want a car, you look online and choose what you want. Most will be priced roughly similar for age, mileage, spec, condition, etc. There’s anomalies but there is no escaping that.

Given the choice I’d choose this over how it was where you paid over the odds unless you got a great deal. Think Sky TV, you pay well over unless you negotiate. I’d much rather everyone had a slightly lower price.

You pay peanuts, you get monkey nuts. Do your research, most cars have known issues. Look at the service history (& compare to service schedule), and examine it yourself, most problems can be seen or heard. Everything else is guesswork.

Private with a qualified inspection is the way I'd go if I had the money. I buy bangers, though!
