Anyone else?

He was happy here when we seemed to have a direction of travel, and a coach that helped his developement and believed in him.

He has got neither of those things anymore.

I wouldnt blame the lad for walking to another club that offered that, and fuck what the fee to us was.

All of the fuck ups that the ownership have made recently are going to bite us on the arse, and previously loyal players wanting away at any cost is going to be one of them.

And I don't blame them if they do atm tbh.
I was talking about those times in answer to why he hasn’t left already. He’ll go in the summer. But he’d have gone anyway unless we went up.

We wouldn't get anything close to 40 million for them.

But the prospect of losing ballard and clarke greatly concerns me when I see a first team with players that have been bought recently containing rusyn, styles, hjelde, seelt and ba. The likes of rusyn are league 1 standard at best. The others are no where near the standard on a team that expects to be top of the championship.

This summer is huge, but it feels like they need to get 4 or 5 decent players that can hit the ground running in this league and push us on. It may well happen but I'm not confident it will.

We need some of the signings of this season to emerge between now and August. I’m talking your Aouchiche, Mundle, Seelt, Rusyn etc

Anyone else not excited by the thought of 40M + coming into the coffers in the summer from the sales of Clarke and Ballard?

Burnley built an unreal squad last season from money generated from player sales, spent around 35m in total and walked the league.

Heartbroken as the next fella but every cloud and that.
If we luckily manage to sign good players with that money, they will inevitably be sold in a year or so, as well. Its just a merry-go-round. In order to progress, at some point you have to keep your best players and build upon it.

Understand why some people maybe sceptical but there’s absolutely no way that previous windows should even give you a fair reason to why people are saying they won’t spend wisely. We have had nowhere near this budget available before and the market becomes completely different to the one we have been operating in recently. It’s literally stage 2 of the model we use (sell an asset we’ve developed for big money and reinvest it in multiple positions) but people refuse to acknowledge that and just give the board shit.

Don't see us spending 10's of millions even I'd we get good sums for the likes of Clarke and Ballard. They've already got their replacements in anyway, and they didn't bother to get a good replacement in for Stewart in January neither.

I'd say a conservative 5/6m in the summer. Big transfer fees would bring big wages and the club have already shown that they aren't prepared to pay the kind of figures for experience or first team ready players.

Who in this league keeps their best players if there’s PL interest?

After sell on clauses we'll bring in around £30m in the summer.

£10m to pay off debt
£10m for running costs/repairs
£10m on 6 kids

The replacements for the players we sell are already here.

Sustainability is the name of the game.

Here's a hypothetical situation for a laugh on a Wednesday morning.

We sell Clarke, Ballard, Neil, Patto and Hume and Ekwah in the summer and pocket £80 million, spend £10 million on a 5 young players, £10 million on running costs, £15 million repaying the owners loans that leaves £45 million that pays the owners their initial buying the club money back.

Sustainability in full effect ;)

As much as those 2 players leaving will be a kick in the teeth it won’t surprise anyone really. If it does happen and in Clarkes case looks nailed on then we just have to have faith in the process as much as it seems to be faltering at the minute.
